This year, the UK’s producer/live band front man, Duke Dumont, has been maintaining his steady ascent, as he aims to bring something different and refreshing both in the studio and on stage. A couple of months ago, he announced his Blasé Boys Club EP series with the first track “Ocean Drive” that was initially premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. The 80’s-inspired track has become a fan favorite, and it’s now receiving some remixes from Hayden James and Shaun Frank, who have each given their own groovy house music flair – James taking more of a poolside approach, while Frank positions it for late night dance floors. Listen for yourself here. The Blasé Boys Club Vol. 1 EP is due out on October 2nd, and the remixes will be out on October 16th.

The wild boys of Cut Snake awoke from their disco naps this afternoon to drop a brand new bombshell on us. This time, they’re editing a Hayden James tune, “Something About You.” There’s something very distinguishably shifty about these Cut Snake tracks. Some eyes-low, groove laden house tunes that draw just a bit from techno influences. Needless to say, their production chops keep improving, and I keep continuing to dance to every track they release. Keep it up, boys.
The always on-point Australian label, Future Classic, released their “Teen Idols” compilation earlier this week which features various of the label’s 2014 releases along with four exclusive tracks from Touch Sensitive, KOA, 123MRK and Hayden James. Hayden James delivers one of the compilation’s standout tracks with his song “Something About You”. The groove on “Something About You” is frisky & upbeat yet somehow manages to be equally hypnotic & seductive. It’s a unique blend of emotions that Hayden James seems to have mastered like few others are able to do. “Something About You” has all the makings for a breakout 2015 by Mr. James.
Hayden James set the blogs afire back in June with his silky smooth single, “Permission to Love,” reaching #1 on Hype Machine and racking up over 400K listens on Soundcloud thus far, and today, his self-titled EP sees release on GDD™ fav imprint, Future Classic. In addition to “Permission to Love,” the Hayden James EP chalks up 4 other originals equally as impressive, showcasing an attractive downtempo R&B style that is just plain sexy and lovely to listen to in the headphones. If I had to pick, “Lay Down” is probably my favorite jimmy jam on the release, but listen to it all and make your own decision. √+
IT’S ANOTHER ROUND OF THE DIRT, HAAAAAAAAAAAAN! A DAY LATE FOR Y’ALLS LONG WEEKEND! *AIRHORN*
In true-to-form fashion, I went a little ham on the R&B influences and remixes… there’s a lot of good stuff circulating right now and whilst still full of summer-driven high serotonin levels I’m basically only listening to stuff that I can sing/rap along to or dance to… or both. There’s a good sprinkling of emotion and a touch of acid just to round it off. Can’t be on one all the time you know. Also I think the median age for the remixers/producers on these tracks is around 20 which means A. I’m getting old and B. college-level guys are way more into Amerie and Ciara (publicly) than I remember.
My good bud Burn Unit really vibing off the British & American producers and vibes, lots of feel-good stuff in his picks from quite a few budding producers.
You can of course download each individual track via Soundcloud but each of us have zipped our selections up for you for easy download purposes. Trust us. – Laura

Hayden James is an up and coming producer out of Sydney, Australia who has recently flown on to my radar with his single “Permission To Love.” Future Classics Records has the pleasure of debuting this as his first official single and will have Charles Murdoch and Touch Sensitive on the remix package. Its groovy guitar riffs combined with the chopping and pitching of the vocals makes for one funky record. Out today on 12” and digital, you can head over to Future Classics and spread the love.
