Our friends at Prep School Recordings continue their introductions with breakthrough artist The Supertraxxe, releasing their new single “Can’t Believe It” today for FREE via their soundcloud. Somewhere between a soulful groove and a hard edge, The Supertraxxe have found their sound in a modern imagination of the classic disco house sound. The sampling will have fans of Treasure Fingers, GRUM, and Viceroy will be all over this funk… grab it below!
It’s no surprise to me that GRUM has strategically planned the end of his 3-year hiatus just in time for the rapidly approaching summer. His debut album, Heartbeats, was one of the best album releases of 2010, and we are confident that the groovy Leeds-based producer is coming back strong if this first single, ‘Everytime,’ is a touchstone for what’s to come. GRUM has a knack for making music for every hour of the day, and ‘Everytime’ represents that ability perfectly. The House tune is light and airy, fitting snugly into any daytime soiree, but it’s got some energy and soul to it that makes it well-equipped for latenight play as well. We’re happy to say that GRUM is back and the Everytime EP is available now on Beatport via his own label, Heartbeats. Keep an eye out for the full album late this summer. √+
This week we are very happy to welcome the groovy Scot, GRUM, back to CONTROL at the Avalon, as well as a DJ set from the newly relocated US residents from Melbourne, Miami Horror. Supporting the pair of headliners will be Nicky Savage and our good friend, Gypsy Disco Caravan, so get ready for an all night sexy groovefest.
Please email names to RSVP@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount guestlist for the evening. All names must be submitted by 5:30PM on Friday. Guestlist pricing will be $15 before 11PM.
The 3rd installment of the wave consists of some groovey jams that went over very well last friday when i played @ the Vanguard with Miike Snow. They are timeless, and sure to take you to your special place. Get these on your hardrive and make some sweet sweet love. If last weekend included And-1-ravin’ in some sort of wacko outfit, these feel-good numbers should settle your post-Halloween juices nicely.
“The Wave consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovy, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
He’s back! The groovy Scot will be making another appearance this Friday at CONTROL in Hollywood along with LA’s own Acid Girls and GDD™ friendly and 1/2 of Bubblegum Sci Fi, Anthony Ross. If you have still yet to see one of GRUM‘s performances, I highly recommend coming out to this event. Prepare to dance like you are in slow motion in a wind tunnel, with seductive sounds ubiquitous throughout the ample-spaced Avalon.
Please RSVP names to JONAH@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount ticket list for the night. All names must be submitted before 6PM on Friday night.

Guided by the ruling hand of the GottaDanceDirty™ Pharaoh, we at GDD™ have certain guidelines in which we are to follow. One major rule handed down to us by the Pharaoh is to limit the generic “hey, here’s my top tunes of the week” posts***. BUT…I haven’t posted for a bit, so I’m doing what I gotta do – a “top tunes” post. Let’s hope my punishment is light.
First off, do yourself a super solid and check out Robots With Rayguns on Soundcloud (and peep Binary’s choice write up on RWR). Robots With Rayguns are giving away their entire album for free! That rules on many levels. For some new wave+electro+spacepop domination, go grab ‘Electro Isn’t Dead’ off Soundcloud RIGHT MEOW!
If you guys have been keeping up on the sexy sounds of Scottish mood-maker, GRUM, for the past couple months, you would know about his highly acclaimed album, Heartbeats, that was released on Ultra and d:vision Records earlier this summer. Each track on the album is a winner, and after doing our show with GRUM along with The Twelves in the Spring, I vowed to never miss a set of his in LA. Alongside the Scot will be the Brazilian electro duo, Felguk, as well as a bangin’ set from DJ Neoteric.
Please RSVP names to JONAH@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount ticket list for the evening. Pricing will be as follows:
-21+: $10 before 12am
-18+: $15 before 12am
Also, make sure to come stop by and say hi to us in the GDD room. We’re to the right of the main stage conveniently located next to the smoking patio. Luxurious.
