rufus du soul

Australian indie-dancers, RÜFÜS DU SOL (formerly RÜFÜS), have announced their first US headline tour today, much to the enjoyment of many here at GDD. After releasing the incredible debut album, Atlas, last year, the trio have really set themselves apart as real players in the indie/dance crossover market, as evident in this 15+ date tour of America with invitations to both SxSW and Miami in March.

Preceding the momentous jaunt of North America is a new EP from the guys out today on a favorite imprint of ours here at GDD, Sweat It Out! 4 tracks comprise the Desert Night EP, with two originals from RDS and a pair of remixes from two producers who are absolutely nailing it at the moment, Symbols boss Kastle and WeDidIt’s Groundislava.

Preview Kastle’s dark, Garage-esque take of the title track, “Desert Night,” below and click the jump button for all of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s March tour dates.

CHVRCHES are set to come out with a new single soon and have commissioned the help of Groundislava to work his magic on their electro pop anthem, “Gun.” He brings a jungle/island house sounding vibe to the break and amplifies the danceability to the track with a pumping hi-hat loop that will have you up on your feet in no time. You can pre-order the new Gun EP itunes in the U.K. but no official date on a release for the U.S.

The artists over at Wedidit always know how to blend the perfect amount of Pop with some of the underground sounds that the scene is clamoring about. Although Groundislava might be a little late to the game with this whole Katy Perry remix game, he wastes no time jumping straight into a future pop rendition to shatter any predecessor. There is really no limit to what sounds Groundislava will play around with, as congo drums come in for some triplet accents, and arpeggio synths create a brilliant pop atmosphere.
