Building tremendous anticipation since WMC this march and its debut on Annie Mac’s show last month, Pleasurekraft‘s ‘Skeleton Key’ is out today on Great Stuff Records. With the help of house legend Green Velvet (aka Cajmere), The haunting tech house of Pleasurekraft take on the bouncey vocals of Green Velvet and create a rollercoaster ride bigger than either of them probably expected. This is one of my top tunes for the year already as well as coolest collaboration yet. I strongly suggest you pick up this tune on beatport, plus check out more of Pleasurekraft and Green Velvet below!
This friday @ CONTROL is gonna be one of the dirtiest we’ve had in awhile. We welcome back the house music legend Green Velvet, along with electro fidget crazies Nom De Strip and TJR. Supporting the night will also be our GDD familiar Sam Hiller, and our very own Bones closing out the night. If there was ever a full fledged GDD favored lineup, this billing might just be it. Make sure to arrive early, as this event will reach capacity!
Please email names to RSVP@gottadancedirty.com to be on our discount guestlist for the evening. All names must be submitted by 5PM on Friday.
BIG ONE! This is probably the most excited I’ve been for a CONTROL booking in a while. Green Velvet is a living legend. His origins in Chicago facilitated a musical upbringing that was ubiquitous with Chicago House music. Founding the respected Cajual Records in the early 1990s, Green Velvet AKA Cajmere AKA Curtis Jones was at the forefront of the genre, with Coffee Pot AKA Percolator reaching dancefloors across the globe. This Friday, prepare to be blown away as Green Velvet brings some of the best House music you’ve ever heard to the Avalon in Hollywood.
Please RSVP names to JONAH@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount guestlist for the evening. All names must be submitted before 5:30PM tomorrow night.

Alright guys, we have a big one on the West Side this week at VS. in Santa Monica. Setting themselves apart from a saturated Chicago house music scene, Santiago & Bushido have proved time and time again that their flawless DJ sets and big time remixes can turn heads around the globe. Lucky for us, we get to have the Potty Mouth duo headline at The Central in Santa Monica this Thursday. Supporting them will be a slew of talent including Denver’s own Robotic Pirate Monkey as part of their West Coast tour. Make sure to RSVP this week as it will be $5 at the door and $5 Red Bull + Vodkas all night.
First off, if you were a supporter of prop 19, you need to watch this video. If you went to UC Santa Barbara (or just are a fan of college), you need to watch this video. If you are a filmmaker, you also might wanna take some notes. And finally, if you like Green Velvet, then you need to hear Breakdown’s take on his new track, ‘Dank.’
Breakdown is proud to give you their remix and music video of Green Velvet’s “Dank”. The original is more of a spoken word piece, but the brothers have turned it up with some big bump and blazin funk! The remix is here for you to stream and download along with a music video for you to enjoy!
Also, if you’re up in Santa Barbs and looking for some boom boom tomorrow night, Breakdown will be taking over the EOS lounge for the official ‘Dank’ music video release party, with support from some local heroes.
*Check out Breakdown’s Soundcloud for tons of free music, and their Official site for giveaways, tour updates and all kinds of fun stuff…
Today I have quite the treat for you. A GDD™ exclusive interview with the man with the golden voice, Mr. Pete Tong. Famous for his BBC Radio 1 programs, contributions to the global music community, recent productions, Ibiza club nights, and that discerning ear for hot new talent, the man is also a world-class talent behind the decks. Pete will be headlining the House of Horror stage alongside Armand Van Helden, Felix Da Housecat + more at this Saturday’s Monster Massive 2010.
By the beard of Zeus was it hot in Los Angeles today! Someone told me that it hit 113 degrees in downtown which is restoring my faith and concern in global warming. Good thing the Penthouse is in close proximity to the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Anyway, this trifecta of turbulent tunage will definitely not cool you down, but who can dance dirty without getting a little hot n’ bothered? Get these goodies before they evaporate into the stratosphere!
These two are probably my favorite remixes of the smash hit by Cajmere AKA Curtis Jones AKA Green Velvet, although the Major Lazer and Riva Starr versions are very admirable as well. Pick up the entire Percolator Package on iTunes or Beatport. Oh, and just a little announcement; Claude VonStroke and Dada Life will both be coming to CONTROL at the Avalon in October and November, respectively. Yeeeeeehaw.
Our fellow LA resident Paparazzi just sent this over for a GDD™ exclusive release today. Big synth + Alexis’ vocals = always a good time. Paparazzi is currently working on an original EP and a few other remixes as well as planning to reinstate the famous Check Yo Ponytail party in a couple months along with iHeartComix‘ Franki Chan and Media Contender‘s Danny Johnson. Keep your peepers peeled!
My apologies to anyone who missed Felix Cartal’s set in Santa Cruz or at EDC this weekend, because it was the best I’ve seen all year. Before you rush to the comments page to tell me how dead wrong I am, check out his new remix of Green Velvet that’s available for streaming on his soundcloud.
Debonair DJ Alex Frederick sent over his latest mix entitled “Bright Nights SF”, a half-hour love letter to French nu disco and indie electro. Be sure to catch his set next month as half of Bad Neighbors at San Francisco’s very own HARD SF.
