Black Butter is just a one-stop shop for audio gold. Repping guys like Gorgon City, Rudimental, and Kidnap Kid, the London-based imprint is undeniably at 100, and Kidnap Kid‘s upcoming Stronger EP due out March 3rd is keeping it that way. Just revealed this week is the title track and A-side to the two-tune EP — a rainy day House number with some emotional vocals that personally give me an incisive Karin Dreijer Andersson vibe. Check it out for yourself below. √+
Recently sprouted NYC label, Lokal Legend, made themselves known in a big way last month with the debut release from Calgary-born vocalist, Kiesza, whose pipes (along with an ace House jam) brought “Hideaway” into the spotlight reaching the charts of Hype Machine and the kind words of Pitchfork simultaneously. Promised with the original mix was a forthcoming remix from Gorgon City, leading me to believe that they very well could have produced the original as well, but either way, it’s a ‘monster’ as advertised. The package will be available for purchase here March 23rd. √+
Bonus Original Mix!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been eight years since Klaxons dropped tunes on us like “Gravity’s Rainbow” & “Atlantis to Interzone”, paving the way for The Bloghaus Movement last decade. Their new studio album (the band’s third and first since 2010), is set for release this Spring and will feature powerhouse acts like Chemical Brothers, James Murphy & Erol Alkan. With collaborations like those, Klaxons‘ message is clear in 2014: these guys are not messing around. Furthering this notion is the group’s hiring of red hot duo Gorgon City (whose current song “Ready For Your Love is #4 in the UK) to produce the new album’s first track. The song, “There Is No Other Time”, is a pounding piece of Indie Dance Pop that is sure to piss off their crazy core fans (just check out the scathing comments already) but will most certainly win them plenty of new ones. Klaxons are back. Tell your friends.
“There Is No Other Time” is out March 23rd via Akashic Records.

Another week brings you another set of 10 free downloads from us at GDD, but this time around it’s the always tasteful aRod, and myself, Toks, on Dirt duty for our 126th edition. As per usual, we have a little something for everyone, so head after the jump to grab some quality music to compliment your weekend – we know you’ll need it.
This mix is fly. Fans of Disclosure, Breach, and all things that pop to bassy, sexy house music should dig this mix by the duo consisting of Foamo and RackNRuin. Right after you catch our very own BONES on the HARD Stage, stay put and see Gorgon City perform on the same stage right after at HARD Summer 2013 on Sunday, August 4.
Since the inception of our site over four years ago, UK producer Foamo has maintained a spot atop our list of favorites due to his steadily maturing sound. He’s set to release a banging new EP that comes out next week on the 17th backed by the Rinse camp. The title track Release Me will surely be doing the rounds in clubs this summer due to the knocking bass and silky vocals of Lotti. Clearly drawing from his recent work on his Gorgon City project, the future of dance music looks bright with artists like Foamo pushing the envelope and blurring the boundaries of genres.
It’s time for the weekend – and what better way to kick it off with a special HARD edition of The Dirt, bringing you (15) tracks to pump all the way through. We welcome the HARD bossman Destructo to the selection, along with his #2, mister D BELL himself and our very own BONES. Some of these you can download (where you see the DL link given), but some you just have to listen and wait because they’re either too good to be FREE or their quite frankily not even out yet. All in all, gems abound. Dig in, my weekend warriors.
