Goldroom is releasing a new track next week titled “Till Sunrise” and prior to its release, he is experimenting with a little project he likes to call The Premix. Here are Josh’s own words in regards to his experiment:
“Basically, you can download the vocal stem on Soundcloud and make your own remix before the song is even out. The premix is an experiment. Remixes are a big part of the creative world I live in, and it has always been important to me to give up-and-coming producers the chance to work with my songs unencumbered.”
We love the idea of The Premix. Any chance to inject new life into the release process that also gives up & coming producers a chance to shine is something we’re on board with. Fresh off the premix train is MyKill, our guy in SF who we love here at GDD. One of the main reasons we love him: the dude’s not afraid to throw down some sax! The smokey vocals on “Till Sunrise” (courtesy of Mammals) alongside some feel good sax make MyKill’s remix one smooth ride.
Also, be sure to check out MyKill’s latest orginal track, “Moonlight” (produced along with Walker):
The vibemaster, Goldroom, has unveiled a new remix for Danish songstress, MØ, today, adding his characteristic, summery sensibilities to “Don’t Wanna Dance.” The remix comes along with a brand new spring/summer tour schedule, with a few DJ sets preceding six anticipated live sets going into the end of June. Stream the remix below and catch all tour dates after the jump.
What happens when you take the silky smooth, sun-drenched vibes of Goldroom and put them in the hands of the Bixel Boys? Well, you end up with a sexy, big-booty, bass heavy version sure to make your grandma shake her rump. Both these acts of two of the hottest coming out of LA currently, and this is a testament to why. There is a free download in exchange for a ‘like’ below. Get amongst it.
As we make the transition from Summer to Fall, we’ve got a remix today which features two artists who befittingly capture the sound & feel of the seasonal transition. It’s Southern California versus Northern California. It’s sunshine versus haze. It’s the bright, bouncy feel of Summer transitioning into the dusky, seductive feel of Fall. It’s LA’s Goldroom getting the remix treatment from SF’s MyKill on the glorious track “Embrace”. It’s the best of both worlds on this deep, seductive yet still sunny remix. It’s the one time of the year when the guy in the beanie wearing a t-shirt & shorts doesn’t actually look too ridiculous…this track’s for you, bud.
Goldroom has set himself apart this year, expanding his performance into a full live show equipped with keyboards, live drums, and collaborator, Mereki, on vocals. Our friend Paolo Ferrari spent some time with Goldroom recently, documenting conversations about the project and the foundation of what Goldroom is. Check it out.

IT’S ANOTHER ROUND OF THE DIRT, HAAAAAAAAAAAAN! A DAY LATE FOR Y’ALLS LONG WEEKEND! *AIRHORN*
In true-to-form fashion, I went a little ham on the R&B influences and remixes… there’s a lot of good stuff circulating right now and whilst still full of summer-driven high serotonin levels I’m basically only listening to stuff that I can sing/rap along to or dance to… or both. There’s a good sprinkling of emotion and a touch of acid just to round it off. Can’t be on one all the time you know. Also I think the median age for the remixers/producers on these tracks is around 20 which means A. I’m getting old and B. college-level guys are way more into Amerie and Ciara (publicly) than I remember.
My good bud Burn Unit really vibing off the British & American producers and vibes, lots of feel-good stuff in his picks from quite a few budding producers.
You can of course download each individual track via Soundcloud but each of us have zipped our selections up for you for easy download purposes. Trust us. – Laura
Our bud Goldroom has put together a touching cover of Elliott Smith‘s “St. Ides Heaven” on his Soundcloud today, adding in a bit of Nu Disco feel to the track from the late singer’s 1995 self-titled album.
Goldroom explains, “Elliott Smith is one of my songwriting idols, simple as that. Sometimes I really feel like the emotional songwriting part of music gets a bit lost within the dance music world, which was a big reason I picked this amazing song to cover. I just wanted to try and do my best to honor such a great musician and one of my favorite songs.” Listen and download below.
Premiering here on GDD™ this morning is DC trio, Volta Bureau‘s, remix of our mate Goldroom‘s springtime tune featuring Mereki titled “Only You Can Show Me.” The original saw its release back in March on Vitalic Noise, and Volta Bureau have put together a great, funky rendition to switch up your tracklist for the summer. Grab it for free below.
