It’s always a treat when a new GLOVES remix surfaces. While GLOVES may not be as prolific of a remixer as he was three years ago, he’s kept his finger on the pulse of the dance music scene, more specifically, on the Australian dance music scene. He’s done so by collaborating with fellow countrymates Passerine and producing their new “Paris Morning” EP. The original of “Paris Morning” is dubby disco pop tune that is a throwback to 90s trip hop, a genre that could use revival right about now. Keeping with that 90s theme, the GLOVES remix of “Paris Morning” has 90s throwback house written all over it – soulful, poppy vocals over a classic + infectious deep house/clubby disco beat. Big ups all around to our man GLOVES. Continue Reading
Ninety-nine. We’re one Dirt away from that magical century mark. But before we get there, The Dirt #99 is what’s happening NOW. It’s the latest killer tracks all in one place: a Jesse Rose remix of Duke Dumont’s “The Giver” (with female vocals!), The Chromatics covering New Order, a MASSIVE Italo/French House remix of Estelle’s classic “American Boy”, a new GLOVES remix, a new Monarchy track, that Disclosure remix of Artful Dodger (the exclamation point on a stellar year for the Disclosure boys) and more. Peep the tunes below + grab that hot (FREE) ten pack of tracks! And don’t forget your 99 Red Balloons on the way out…
Your Spring to Summer music guide is here. Follow this mix from Spring all the way into Summer as you lay poolside, frolic on the beach, go on a moonlight drive or go anywhere the new season takes you. The mix includes some of the season’s finest deep disco/deep house/indie dance tracks from Perseus, Ronika, Yuksek, GLOVES, Moon Boots, Lee Stevens, MyKill, The KDMS plus unreleased tracks + red hot exclusives from St. Lucia/Viceroy, Jupiter/Supermen Lovers, Luv Shack Records and newcomers Gerard De La Disco. Big time thanks to all those who made special contributions!
Our boy GLOVES is back at it with a brand new remix for fellow Australians, Mr. Jigga. This is a much edgier GLOVES sound than we are accustomed to featuring some grimey synth play and beautifully ominous vocals (courtesy of HeLovesHer). It’s a sleazy, big room, festival disco sound right in time for this season’s biggest parties.
Our main man GLOVES is at it again with another brill remix, this time of fellow countrymen Gold Fields, the hardest working band in Ballarat. Gold Fields commissioned GLOVES to do a remix of their track “Treehouse” (as well as some production on “Woods”, another track from their self titled EP) & the end result is another winning remix by GLOVES. GLOVES takes the indie-dance sound of the original and turns it into a chugging house groover tinged with a slice of dreamy disco.
The Gold Fields EP is available now in Australia & out soon in the US.
The new GLOVES remix of “Cameo Lover” by Kimbra makes me wanna throw a basket on the handle bars of my bike, grab my favorite beach babe, toss her in the basket and cruise the sidewalks of the beach, hands in the air (with both of us, of course, wearing beer helmets). Kimbra’s voice oozes bubbly goodness and GLOVES sunshine disco is the perfect compliment to turn the track into one sexy beach ride. Check out the remix below (and peep the video for the original to fall in ♥ with Kimbra & her sweet dance moves).

Some of you may recognize GLOVES (real name: Yama Indra) by his earlier work as the now defunct indie-dance act Damn Arms. GLOVES has set himself apart from other nu-disco producers with a winning formula of 70s AM rock & blissful, funky disco while still maintaining true dance floor grit.
After some truly classic remixes of Miami Horror & The Scare, GLOVES continues to work over the nu-disco competition with two new remixes by World’s End Press & Radio INK.
And a super quick bonus…rarely do I post previews of tracks with the girl robot promo voice over it (is anyone else kinda turned on by this voice?). But in this case, I had to. The best track off the new Bag Raiders album remixed by GLOVES – that’s as bad ass a combo as Russell Westbrook & Kevin Durant. Cannot wait for this release.
And check out GLOVES’ mixtape he recently punched out for Triple J’s Radio show: Tracklist 1. Nils Ohrmann Feat. Karas Day – Le Funk Fatale (Daniel Steinberg Remix) 2. Storm Queen (a.k.a. Morgan Geist) – Look Right Through 3. Murphy Jax Feat. Mike Dunn – It’s The Music (Alden Tyrell Remix) 4. Les Rhythmes Digitales – Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat) 5. Wackside – Turtle Funk 6.
