Zone Music is a haven for modern Techno. The imprint’s founders, Gesaffelstein & The Hacker, have carved somewhat of a niche alongside their fellow Frenchmen over at Bromance Records, pushing for the cutting edge, bouncy, bassy Techno that we’ve all learned to love. Forthcoming on Zone is a 3-track EP from Maelstrom — a promising young producer from the West coast of France with previous releases on Sound Pellegrino, dirtybird, and BNR Trax. The title track of the Resistance EP that we’re premiering today fuses a love of Detroit Techno fundamentals with a new age French twist, providing for a uniquely indefatigable production. Preview “Resistance” below and pick up the release on May 29th. √+

It’s rather alarming how much being a musician amps up a gentleman’s (or lady’s) “sexiness” level, but there’s no denying it’s true. Musicians have been beacons of much affection for as long as music has existed, perhaps (this is my psych major talking here) because of our innate emotional connection to music, or maybe by some grace of god the handsome gene is connected to the music affinity gene. Who knows. Although I’m more particular to band dudes (drummers, specifically) there’s quite a few devilishly handsome gentlemen amongst the DJ/Producer world that are worthy of the ample female attention they get.

So here we are, as a preliminary chart to GDD’s “Best of 2012″…. Three Wise’s and my list of the “sexiest” artists amongst the electronic sphere. Not only are the below gentlemen considerably easy on the eyes, but their personalities, charisma, wit, and duh, MUSIC all add to culminate what I’d like to call “sexy”. Keep doing your thing, boys. Check out the list all the way to #1 after the jump (my votes in blue, Three Wise’s in red) and let us know where your most handsome DJs rank! -Laura.

Crawling into the land of the living on Hallows eve, the creature is back. It took several necessary body parts to create this monster, and so the wait is finally over. I’m excited for this one because it really embodies some of the harder sets I’ve been playing lately, while also premiering some brand spankin new music from the likes of Boys Noize, Dillon Francis, Gesaffelstein, Botnek, Galantis (project trifecta of Savage Skulls, Miike Snow, Style Of Eye) and many more.  The season is upon us, so listen to this and cause some mischief and mayhem, wake the dead, dance with the devil, get high, get mid, get low – pick your poison dirty dancers, and Happy Halloween.

Bromance Records is simply on fire. Brodi really has the vision for his label down, and he’s let his pal Gesaffelstein take the reigns for the 4th EP, Rise of Depravity, due out on July 9th. Rise of Depravity sees 2 originals from Gesa, ‘Depravity’ and ‘Belgium.’ The title track consists of the pumping Techno you’d expect from the handsome Frenchman, but ‘Belgium’ slows the tempo way down into something I can only describe as Technoombah (see Dave Nada I can make up genres too!), and pays homage to the early 80s/90s ecelectic electronic scene of the country. Pick it up on Beatport in a couple weeks, and until then have a listen to the previews below! √+ Continue Reading

Turbo Recordings French Techno antihero Gesaffelstein never ceases to amaze. He’s been consistently rising to the top with his elegant but dark & violent thumping sounds. I must warn you… his music might provoke stripping, killing and/or flesh eating >:).

German House and Electro producer, TAI, just came out with a new mix last week for Dim Mak Records titled, At The Disco, but don’t let the name fool you. Yes, there are definitely some Disco jams peppered inside of the mix, but you better believe that TAI incorporated his signature heavy sound in there with new tracks from Tiga, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski, and of course, TAI himself.
