George FitzGerald is at the top of his game. London born and Berlin based, FitzGerald has a firm grasp on House and Techno music, and there’s a diversity and quality in his production that’s not easily attained. Just signed to Double Six/Domino in the UK, FitzGerald released his latest offering in November — a 2-track EP titled “Magnetic” which features the producer’s first original vocal contribution. FitzGerald will be taking the Magnetic name on the road to North America beginning this Friday in San Francisco, hitting 8 additional dates up until around Christmas. We had a chance to chat with George ahead of the tour, touching on a multitude of subjects including his thoughts on writing his first vocal, the faults of the modern day dance album, producing for Katy B, and more.

Londoner Katy B continues her reputation as an über-talented vocalist and top collaborator with this latest offering produced by Berlin’s George FitzGerald who has had a banner year with releases on Scuba’s Hotflush & Defected along with an Essential Mix back in January. “I Like You” features Katy’s full-bodied vocals atop Fitzgerald’s complementary groove in a near perfect manner, making me hope that the two match up again in the studio sometime in the future. “I Like You” will act as the B-side to Katy’s 5 AM which will see release on November 5th here in the US. √+
GDD™ homie shae b. is back in action with a follow up to her first installment of her ‘stripped down‘ mixtape series, once again taking some of the best of the deep and arranging it very well. ‘stripped down pt. While the commercial dance music sound seems to still be sweeping across the United States like a swarm of locusts, there is an unbelievable amount of tasteful House, Garage, and Bass coming out of the UK, more specifically London, at the moment. Duke Dumont, Bicep, George Fitzgerald, and Dusky should ring a few bells, and there’s a new duo that needs to be included on this list, and they go by the name of Toyboy & Robin. With a solid foot in the House realm, another foot in Bass, and an elbow in R&B, Toyboy & Robin have created a perfect equilibrium of their sound — catchy, grooving, and undeniably danceable. On that note, the gents have put together an impeccable mix for us today, featuring the aforementioned Londoners as well as Nicolas Jaar, Toro y Moi, Todd Edwards, and many more. One of the better mixes I’ve heard in a long time. Make sure to keep an ear out for Toyboy & Robin’s April release “Jaded” in here as well. Top tune. √+
After releasing “Thinking of You” as an exclusive single on Beatport via Scuba‘s Hotflush Recordings back in March, London’s George Fitzgerald has combined the well-received tune (over 130K plays on Soundcloud!) with yet another emotive, ardent club mover, “Nighttide Lover.” The two singles are joined by a “Re-Dub” from Portugal’s Trikk, creating a trifecta ready for the Ibiza season. The EP is available today on Beatport.
