To kick off the Hallo-week and get you ready for the festivities this weekend, we’ve teamed up with HARD Day Of The Dead performing artist Thee Cool Cats for a quick-hitter interview and an exclusive download of their Electricano “Keep Ya Movin” remix. The G house duo from Mexicali has been flexing this one in their sets for awhile now and and we’re happy to be offering you the track for FREE…no tricks, just the treat!

GDD: You guys are making serious noise in the G HOUSE department. How did you guys decide that was the sound you we’re going to focus on?
Tony Edit: Well, it basically goes back to the way we grew up, being an 80’s baby I grew up listening to and admiring hip hop in the 90’s and 00’s, so musically speaking hip hop has always been big influence on me. Including back when both Gerry and I were making electro (shout out to GDD for actually posting a bunch of my old tracks I did with my boy Louie Fresco as Disco Villains during the electro and blog house days much love) Gerry had his own thing goin on as well. Then all of sudden the super Deep House scene started exploding down here in Mexico, you know like No.19 slow mo house, and that just wasn’t really a fit for either of us, one day we heard Amine Edge & Dance’s Goodie Goodies track and that sound just clicked for us, that was inspiration for our tune Hand on the Pump on CUFF (one of the first 3 tracks we ever worked on together in an actual studio) which has gotten an amazing spectrum of support from artists ranging from Pete Tong to Steve Aoki but for us it’s not about making Ghouse it’s about making music that will make you move and DANCE. If you check out our tunes and releases we keep our sound very diverse ranging from the banging bassy Ghouse we do on CUFF to the Nu Disco almost RnBish stuff on Nurvous/Tropical Heat to the Techy Housy stuff we are doing with Toolroom now, it’s all about making good music and having fun …..

Gerry: It wasn’t so much that we decided on it, we just really enjoyed making it and playing it out, it just fit our natural energy and attitude. Honestly for us Ghouse is a genre that we feel anyone can enjoy it’s just fun music to make and to listen to, so that motivates us even more.

GDD: What’s one thing in your production that really stands out as a THEE COOL CATS signature sound?
Gerry: It’s the driving energy they have in them and the raw sound of the tracks in general we try to make it sound as organic and natural as possible. We like for our music to be exciting and sound big. We want it to get out there and reverberate, have people moving and shaking.

Tony Edit: Attitude, Energy, Big Basslines and Quality, we want our tunes to be fun, to make you want to dance and to be that track with something new or fresh that you hear at a club or a show and to be like “man you remember that track that said this or that bassline that was woooahh”

GDD: You guys did a huge remix for Destructo’s “Party Up” EP, how did that all come to be?
Tony: Well, it was funny actually we found out he had dropped our track Grab The Wall ( SLEAZY G) at HARD summer from our boy Ben aka BIJOU from Phoenix (#HUSLTEGANG Lt. watch out for this dude he is making some serious tunes) and then a few days later we posted up the video and tagged him, then he messaged us on twitter saying he really liked our sound and that the track worked really well, so we sent him some more tunes and he started playing those out as well specifically Hand on the Pump and Don’t Kill My Vibe. He then asked us if we would like to remix his latest single and of course we liked the tune and felt we could make it bang a bit more so we jumped all over it.
Gerry: what Tony said ….. LOL

GDD: Day Of The Dead is coming up, how excited are you guys to make your HARDfest debut? What can we expect?
Gerry: Excited is an understatement. We’ve wanted to go to this festival for years but we never had the opportunity to go, so we used it as motivation and told ourselves we wouldn’t go until we played there. When we got the news it was crazy because we couldn’t believe we’d done it.
Tony Edit: #HUSTLEGANG

GDD: Whats the most embarrassing Halloween memory you both have?
Tony: Probably djing out here in Mexicali with Louie wearing Bloody Beetroots masks that were damn near impossible to breath in or see through, let’s just say it wasn’t the smoothest dj set we ever played. Super fun tho (shout to Sunsound for that one)

Gerry: Probably all the dumb costumes my mom used to make me wear to go trick or treating when I was young, in fact she told me last week she has this year’s ready for me to pick up lol

Thee Cool Cats: Just want to say thanks to everyone at GDD for always supporting us and having our backs, also thanks for this interview and we hope you guys really like this remix we are giving away, it has been killing in our sets for about 2 years now and we finally get to give it out to all the people that have always asked us about it …. Cheers

Our Mexicali boys THEE COOL CATS have finally gotten the release we’ve been waiting for. G House heavyweights Amine Edge & Dance have kept their record ‘Hand On The Pump’ hidden in their arsenal for over a year and now premiere it with the world on their infamous label CUFF. The EP comes equipped with 3 other heaters – sampling some of the hardest vocals in hip hop and the fattest basslines in house music. We’ve been anticipating this one for awhile, so support the dudes and grab it on beatport!

wilksGTHANG

Following his debut EP release in December, the young LA based producer Wilks kicks off 2014 with a new original, titled G Thang. This gangster-house recreation samples the infamous words from “Aint Nothin’ but A G Thang”, which become a ghetto anthem over the song’s dark, chugging bassline. Full of deep melodies and classic house chords, G Thang is designed to get the dancefloor moving. Fans of Amine Edge & Dance, Kolombo and Thee Cool Cats will be all over this one, grab it below for FREE!
