New York’s burgeoning producer/DJ duo, Solidisco, brings a modern edge to the classic house sound, riding on the fringes of Studio 54 sensibilities. They consistently bring the funk and keep it groovy – as proven by their latest jam, “Top of the World” featuring Skyy. For this week’s GDD™ Guest Mix, Solidisco offers up a tasteful concoction of only their own originals, bootlegs, remixes, and unreleased tracks. Download/listen below and mark your calendars for Solidisco‘s remix of Mystery Skulls’ “Ghost,” featured alongside Fred Falke, Claude VonStroke, and Viceroy for a massive remix package out on February 18th.
Man, Pompeya has been commissioning some absolutely spot-on remixes for the singles from their debut LP, Tropical. After Fred Falke knocked “90” out of the park and Jimmy Edgar took “Power” to a whole new level, the Russian quartet has roped in GDD™ favorites, Psychemagik, for a remix of “Slaver” that has me feelin’ some type of way. Fwonky (funky & wonky) basslines and lead synths steal the show, with breezy vocals providing a nice complement to the 7-minute groove. Very excited to hear the full Tropical Remix LP later this month. √+
Fred Falke is very simply put, a legend. For over a decade, he’s been pushing the creative boundaries of French House with a production rate that is envied across the industry. And while his singles and EPs would make an impressive resumé on their own, it’s Fred’s unbelievable repertoire of remixes and reworks that sets him miles apart from his contemporaries.
With a recent move to Los Angeles, Fred did some reorganizing, not only of his furniture but also his hard drives, and found a vault of remixes, edits, and bootlegs that will be surfacing to the public for the very first time right here on GDD™. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing heaps of previously unreleased (and some unheard) material, kicking off today with Fred’s edit of The Police which he first included in his Essential Mix in 2008.
On December 10th, Russian pop/funk outfit Pompeya will be releasing their Tropical Remix Compilation via Brooklyn label No Shame. And who better to recruit for the first track off the remix compilation than one of electronic music’s most prolific & revered remixers, Fred Falke. The pairing of Pompeya and Fred Falke on the remix of the song “90” is a assemblage of diversity, with Pompeya’s vibrant harmonies, melodic synth lines & punchy guitar riffs melting together beautifully & seamlessly with Fred Falke’s signature, polished sound.
The remix compilation follows the October 29th release of Pompeya’s debut album Tropical via No Shame. Purchase the Tropical album on vinyl [HERE] & receive the Tropical Remix Compilation for free!

If you haven’t heard already, The Knocks & Fred Falke joined forces for a new track, “Geronimo,” that was released earlier this month. With those artists working together, it’s only natural for the tune to have a catchy, nu-disco flavor. However, we have the pleasure of premiering Aylen‘s remix, which is suited to those more fond of a harder side of dance music, electro-house. It’s a loud, party-ready track that has no shortage of grinding synths and glitchy sounds. Listen + download (available for 24 hrs. only!) the track below and check out the brand new video for the original “Geronimo” after the jump.
