Remix royalty, MK (aka Marc Kinchen), is back with another strong showing today for Food Music boss, Shadow Child‘s, latest single “Friday” featuring vocals from Takura. Filled to the brim with piano and quick vocal cuts, MK stays true to the definitive House vibe from Shadow Child’s original while stripping away his bouncing bassline. In my opinion, you’d have to make a very strong argument to make me believe that anyone is nailing remixes like Marc Kinchen right now. √+
Pete Graham is on deck for the next release on Shadow Child & Kry Wolf’s imprint, FOOD Music, and he’s called upon some good friends to collaborate with him on the 4-track EP. Specializing in bass heavy house, Pete calls upon the low end gods in the Friends EP, rattling the walls with lower than low basslines and thumping kicks. Studio partner Chris Lorenzo of Cause & Affect (who also collaborated with Graham on the popular Marina Gasolina refix) helps out on all 4 tracks on the release, with dirtybird youngster Mark Starr and fellow Brit, Marc Spence, each getting on a track. Preview all 4 big ones below. √+
Not too much known about these 3 Brits from Northwestern England other than that they’ve caught the ear of Dave Spoon AKA Shadow Child & Kry Wolf for a debut release on their FOOD Music imprint out last month. Makes No Sense‘s Sling EP showcases an array of thumping, bass-heavy House music — right up the audible alley of imprint owner Shadow Child. The 3-track EP has received some serious support for a debut EP, receiving plays from Skream, Benga, Ardalan, Jaymo & Andy George, and many more. I think it’s definitely appropriate to add this trio to the growing list of top House & Bass coming out of England. Pick up the FOOD Music release here and check this mix the lads put together to celebrate their FOOD debut.
If you aren’t familiar with Shadow Child and Kry Wolf‘s new record label Food Music, take this time to educate yourself. Their most anticipated song of the year “Dappy” is just weeks away from being released, so in order to ease our hunger they’ve given fans a taste of whats to come (pun intended). Enjoy this massive tune by Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo!
