Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, the third installment of my Haute & Bothered mixtape series has arrived after a year’s hiatus. The aesthetic draws heavily from certain tracks that disavow basic genre umbrellas, and after crawling out of the deep house black hole that I found myself in the last year, it seemed right to enter the autumnal equinox with a grip of new tracks that subscribe to this mantra from the likes of Curses, Canblaster, SCNTST, as well as an original track from myself mixed into the fray.

Since the inception of our site over four years ago, UK producer Foamo has maintained a spot atop our list of favorites due to his steadily maturing sound. He’s set to release a banging new EP that comes out next week on the 17th backed by the Rinse camp. The title track Release Me will surely be doing the rounds in clubs this summer due to the knocking bass and silky vocals of Lotti. Clearly drawing from his recent work on his Gorgon City project, the future of dance music looks bright with artists like Foamo pushing the envelope and blurring the boundaries of genres.

The collaboration between Foamo and Rack N Ruin known as Gorgon City has got to be one of the most exciting new side projects of recent, and they are finally getting the exposure they deserve. Diplo himself just had them drop into his show on BBC Radio 1 to give the world a taste of what Gorgon City is all about. Call it NU-K funky, speed garage, deep or bassline… This is 31 minutes of the future.

Mixmag just put up this special mini-mix from UK rudeboy Kye Gibbon aka Foamo. Read the article below, or don’t, because either way you are required to download this mix. Learn where your favorite bass tunes came from, and personally, how I got into electronic music in the first place.

Foamo exploded onto the electro house scene a few years ago and has quickly developed a style of production and DJing that has won him a large following and the respect of many of his heroes. Foamo’s love of all things bass helped land him an A&R role at Chew The Fat!, the label that has championed him since day one.

A key name in London’s dance scene, Chew The Fat! celebrates it’s fourteenth birthday this month. To mark the occasion, Foamo has put together a very special mini mix. Citing early jungle and drum’n'bass as one of his main references, Foamo takes a look back and has put together a very special classic jungle selection.

LOCATION:
The VS. party will be held @ The Central: Social Aid & Pleasure Club, a diamond in the rough in Santa Monica that looks like you are stepping into a speakeasy of the 1920s. The unique little venue clashes a prohibition atmosphere with one of the most undiscovered sound systems on the West Coast. Still confused? Think Boardwalk Empire + dance party.
1348 14th Street (Right off Santa Monica blvd and 14th st.)

TALENT:
With so many friends in the dance music community, Gotta Dance Dirty & DANCEiSM will clash surprise headliners each week against the local heroes of Los Angeles. With an arsenal of talent coming from our DJs and close friends, we have an endless amount of epic DJ sets coming for the new year. To see what we’re talking about, you will have to come out this Wednesday night just to get a taste of the incredible lineups we have in store. This week, we have two very special guests from DIM MAK and GA records, who will be tearing up the sound stage alongside ///myself, Team EZY (danceism), Kenya (Guns In The Sun), and a special set from our local hero and Control Fridays resident Mr. White.

Unlike the other events going on in LA, we wish to produce a FREE event for our dirty dancers and the likes, so that you never have to worry about anything but your dancing shoes. All you have to do is:

This week I’ve been giving mad airplay to this gem from Foamo. Having grown accustomed to hearing remixes from him, I haven’t heard a Foamo original in months, so was pleasantly surprised when his Here Comes / Generate Some Heat double A-side dropped a few weeks back on Moda. Aptly named Generate Some Heat, the track blends some dank electro with a tasty filter house groove, the outcome: a heater for sure, so crank it to eleven.

Foamo – Generate Some Heat (Original mix) √+

Cruise over to Beatport to pick up the release in full.
