Over the past couple of months, Santa Barbara’s rising indie-electronic group, FMLYBND, has been cultivating their already impressive catalog with songs like their original, “Letting Go,” and a cover of The Pixies’, “Where Is My Mind.” Today, they continue on their run of releases by putting out their latest single, “Air.” FMLYBND lays the foundation of the song with a mood-elevating, synth-laden groove before building out the rest of the track with dynamic textures, romantic lyrics, and vocal accents for yet another standout original. Check it out above and catch the band live at Popscene SF on March 6, followed by a tour with Milky Chance this Spring.

Our favorite Isla Vista indie/electronic ensemble, FMLYBND, is back in big fashion today with their take on “Where Is My Mind.” This track is a really sick transformation of The Pixies’ original, featuring an ethereal intro that crescendoes into bit more bass-heavy chorus section. All of the melodies and underlying sounds are spot on with the original, down to the vocals at it’s conclusion. Grab this free download, and keep an eye on FMLYBND, as they hit the road this month (tour dates after the jump) and plan on delivering a freebie every month for the next year.
Following up on the release of their debut EP, Gold, Santa Barbara’s FMLYBND unveils the official video for one of my favorite tracks on the EP, “Come Alive.” Sharing the stage with Modest Mouse, The Faint and Twin Shadow at the U.S. Open of Surfing, the burgeoning indie-electronic band was given an opportunity of a lifetime for one of their very first shows, and they delivered accordingly. The video captures their high energy performance along with the warm summery vibes that align perfectly with FMLYBND‘s outstanding music.
Billboard’s “Next Big Sound” artist, FMLYBND, has been making noise in the indie-electronic world with their debut EP, Gold, and their hit single, “Electricity,” that reached #1 on the Hype Machine twice. Already compared to acts like M83, MGMT, and Passion Pit, the six-piece Santa Barbara-based band is certainly well on their way to shape scene with their evocative fusion of organic and electronic elements paired with exceptional songwriting. Check out their Gold EP below and catch them at New Noise Festival in Santa Barbara on October 19th. They will also be on tour with the KROQ supported bands Kieve and Bad Suns in November.
