Over the years, A Club Called Rhonda has played a pivotal role in shaping Los Angeles’ underground dance scene with its authentic approach to creating its free-spirited parties with passionately curated world-class music programming. House, techno, and disco luminaries behind the decks at “Rhonda” events come standard, and the return of RHONDAVOUS this Friday at Union in no exception. Even after its last outstanding RHONDAVOUS that featured headliners The Martinez Brothers, Guy Gerber, and Bonobo, the influential party brand steps up once again to bring our city by the sea a full night of multi-room debauchery with legends like Kerri Chandler and Felix Da Housecat, as well as Body High’s DJDS, two of Chicago’s finest Roy Davis Jr. and Mike Dunn, a personal favorite, Dauwd, and more. There are simply no other events in LA where you can find all of this talent under one roof for one night, so grab a ticket and get out on the dance floor this Friday.
If you need further convincing, Kerri Chandler’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix should do the trick:
It’s hard to find someone in the Deep/Tech House scene that evokes emotion like vocalist Ali Love does. Gently straddling underground and Pop sensibilities, Ali Love provides deeper tracks with singalong capabilities, as evident in massive tunes like “Different Morals,” “Benediction,” and most recently, “Another” — his latest offering due out on Crosstown Rebels next Monday. The new single arrives with remixes from Chicago stalwart, Felix Da Housecat, and Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer AKA Tuff City Kids, making for a solid EP that we hope to be a touchstone for his album due out in 2014.
Another week brings you another set of 10 free downloads from us at GDD, but this time around it’s the always tasteful aRod, and myself, Toks, on Dirt duty for our 126th edition. As per usual, we have a little something for everyone, so head after the jump to grab some quality music to compliment your weekend – we know you’ll need it.

The legend is returning. It’s been years since we’ve heard new original stuff from the Chicago stalwart DJ, Felix Da Housecat, and this March he gives us a touchstone of his forthcoming album with the Sinner/Winner EP out on NYC imprint, No Shame, on the 18th of next month. The EP fills the void that Felix’s absence caused, incorporating his universal ability to make listeners genuinely feel the love for House music. As a cherry on top, fellow CHI legend, Green Velvet, will also be providing a remix of the title track for good measure, but we’ll have to wait to hear that one. Looking forward to catching a set at one of Felix’s 3 Miami appearances next month.
London based dirty dancers we’ve got some exciting news: After a £1million facelift, Brixton’s legendary venue formerly known as The Fridge is re-opening, this time as Electric Brixton. The club launches on Saturday 24th September, with sets from Felix Da Housecat, DJ Hell, Hannah Holland, JoJo De Freq, Tom Starr, and Keith & Supabeatz. Early birds have already gone on sale and you can grab those here.
Over the coming months Electric Brixton will be hosting a weekly party from the Get Loaded brand, as well as shows from M.A.N.D.Y, Japanese Popstars, Gilles Peterson, Stanton Warriors, and Kissy Sell Out.
We are proud to announce our partnership with the world-wide party concept and brand name, We Love House, created by Deejay Booking. The first French edition of We Love House will take place this Saturday (June 11th) at the world-renowned Queen Club in Paris, France. The event is set to have an impressive opening with a lineup featuring house legends and tech-house heavyweights alike: Felix Da Housecat, Pleasurekraft, and Dan Marciano.
The 3rd installment of the wave consists of some groovey jams that went over very well last friday when i played @ the Vanguard with Miike Snow. They are timeless, and sure to take you to your special place. Get these on your hardrive and make some sweet sweet love. If last weekend included And-1-ravin’ in some sort of wacko outfit, these feel-good numbers should settle your post-Halloween juices nicely.
“The Wave consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovy, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
Avaland will be celebrating its 6th birthday this Saturday at the Avalon in Hollywood, and they have been kind enough to give away a pair to 2 of you dirty dancers. Legendary Chicago DJ Felix da Housecat will be headlining the event, along with Avaland resident DJs Droog, Cameron van Peebles, Steve Prior, and The Music Savages.
