There’s nothing more soothing than the velvet sound of Erlend Øye’s voice.  From his solo work to his collaborative work, Erlend Øye has been a major part of electronic music’s history over the last 15+ years.  His original work made him an Indie darling & his remixed tracks have made him electronic music icon.  ”Versus”, the Kings of Convenience remix album from 2001, spawned a handful of classic remixes from Royksopp, Four Tet, Riton & various others.  Ewan Pearson’s remix of “Sudden Rush” (from Erlend’s first solo album) was a 2003 underground classic.  And Fred Falke’s remix of “Golden Cage” by Whitest Boy Alive is considered by many (myself included) to be one of the greatest remixes of all time.  In 2014, Erlend Øye released his second solo album, “Legao”, and this week saw the release of the album’s first official remix.  The track “Rainman” received the offical remix treatment from German DJs Alex Barck (a Jazzanova founding member) & Comixxx.  The remix follows suit with many of the aforementioned classic remixes of Erlend Øye, finding its beauty in the laid back subtlety of the music while allowing the always heavenly vocals to shine.

The remix is out now via Bubbles Records & available exclusively on Beatport.

From the early to mid-2000s, if you saw a track that had the words “featuring Erlend Øye” as part of the track name, you knew you were in for a treat.  Erlend Øye‘s silky smooth voice made him a favorite amongst many artists to collaborate with, including Röyksopp, Phonique, Feist & DJ Hell.  On top of being the go-to guy for an artist in need of a top tier vocal collab, he also had his hands in several personal projects including Kings of Convenience & The Whitest Boy Alive.  Erlend Øye has been on sabbatical over the last few years and since then, one man has proven to be a worthy successor as The Man With The Golden Touch: Theophilus London.

In baseball, he’s a five-tool player.  In basketball he’s a triple double threat.  No matter what genre he’s lyrically slicin’ & dicin’, Theophilus London gets the job done in the coolest way possible.   He’ll take a dreamwave track from Futurecop! & make it dreamier.  He’ll take an electro-sex song from Jimmy Edgar & make it electric.  And just when you think a tune by Ellie Goulding can’t get any better, he makes a pop tune POP.

His new single, “Last Name London”, is the first track off his highly anticipated debut LP “Timez Are Weird These Days” (Out July 19th).  Ungh.
