It’s about time that NYC-based Holy Ghost! got to headline their own tour. After opening up for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Cut Copy, and Chromeo as well as releasing their incredible debut album on DFA Records this year, the dynamic duo is well-deserving of the 20-date tour that they’ll be embarking on this October and November. In addition to the upcoming North American jaunt where they’ll be accompanied by Jessica 6, Midnight Magic, and Eli Escobar, Holy Ghost! has teamed up with Austrian producer Wolfram to put together the latest single, ‘Hold My Breath,’ which will be released as an EP on October 17th complete with remixes from Tiger & Woods, Cosmic Kids, and Falty DL. Feast your eyes on another great music video from director Ben Fries, and check tour dates below for a stop near you.

Montreal’s Grandtheft, also known as GT, has established himself as one of Canada’s most in-demand djs through his trademark high-energy sound, mostly incorporating his own edits/remixes and originals. To date, GT has delivered successful remixes for Steve Aoki (Dim Mak), Metric (Last Gang), Juan MacLean (DFA) and Drake (Young Money). Many of these and his highly-circulated white-label remixes have risen to the top of the Hype Machine popular 100 charts. Co-founder of The Eh! Team, and co-owner of Montreal’s favorite little dance club, Blue Dog Motel, GT is also known as one half of the Team Canada DJs who this past year played to a crowd of over 100,000 in Ottawa for Canada Day Live on Parliament Hill and were selected as the official DJs of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

More times than not, my friends that don’t live in Miami think that this place is some sort of electronic music mecca; a city that pushes that boundaries of our favorite music. But when your only visit to Miami comes during WMC, its easy to forget that the Jersey Shore, Ed Hardy, bottle sale douchebaggery of Miami runs rampant the other 360 days of the year. The causeways separating South Beach from Downtown do a relatively good job of keeping the trash on the beach, but tourists and locals alike are drawn to the spectacle of the big money venues along Washington Ave, however, music formats are dictated by radio stations, because when you just spent $2000 on a table, you definitely want to hear LMFAO, right? Which is why OVERTHROW has been trying for two years now to bridge the gap; bringing the music we dearly love so much to the ears of the Snookies, Situations, and wannabe Kardashians. Our newest venture is a party called Coco’s Habit every Thursday, which is located at Coco de Ville, a speak-easy lounge in the Gansevoort Hotel. Pirate Stereo and myself are the resident DJs, and we pretty much have the freedom to play whatever we want. He and I both made little promo mixes for the night for your listening pleasure, so if you live in Miami, come by and give us a hello.

“New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”
DJ AM, née Adam Goldstein, was found dead this weekend in his Manhattan apartment. While the details surrounding his untimely death are still unknown, his legacy undeniably won over millions of fans, impressed his predecessors, and inspired both the turntablist and the mix DJ. This interview from our friends at Schitz Popinov only confirms what I heard from everyone who ever opened for him: that Adam was one of the friendliest, most humble dudes in the game. On behalf of the editorial staff at Gotta Dance Dirty™, our hearts go out to his friends and family.
