A massive 12 song compilation dropped today compliments of Moda Black. The roster of artists appearing in the package is a dream-team of rising stars like Disclosure, Eats Everything, Nick Monaco, and Kill Frenzy. I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite out of the bunch, as the tunes vary from the deep house camp over to the peak-time warehouse vibe. Expect to hear a fair bit of this compilation this summer, especially since Moda Black’s label heads are none other than BBC1′s Jaymo & Andy George. Pick up a copy on iTunes or Amazon. Check out previews after the jump.
Okay so I’ve been hoarding this since I was lucky enough to receive a promo after WMC, but for all that don’t already know – Daniel Pierce aka Eats Everything is back in the spotlight with his incredible follow up Jagged Elbow EP on Pets Recordings. The Bristol native exploded onto the record label last year with the massively supported ‘Entrance Song,’ earning him a BBC Radio 1 Essential mix and a capture into the DirtyBird family by label chief Claude VonStroke. The big man since then has been busy at work with tour dates across the world and stunning remixes setting him a cut above any other on their respectable releases (not to mention his production as one part of the duo Waif & Strays).
Officially released on Monday, the Jagged Elbow EP first features a-side ‘Jagged Edge’ – a darker toned blend of weighty bassline with haunting vocals, pinched guitar riffs and wet brassy chords . The b-side ‘This Elbow’ (originally titled ‘Food’ during WMC haha) is a more low end driven bouncy bass tune with uptempo hat swings and bobbing chord stabs to the spirit of soulful house music.

Don’t miss the Dirtybird records takeover @ Dim Mak Studios on next Tuesday, June 5th w/ Christian Martin, Worthy and Leroy Peppers!
The first original EP of 2012 on the dirtybird imprint comes from the new side project from London’s Dave Spoon — under the devious moniker of Shadow Child. The self-titled EP consists of two original tracks, ‘String Thing’ and ‘Rustic Chip,’ which blend genre lines between Solid Groove and Drum N Bass and have both already received support and air time from some of dirtybird‘s finest, Claude VonStoke and Eats Everything. To celebrate yesterday’s release, Shadow Child put together a fantastic mix including a number of TUNES from dirtybird, Pets, and Night Slugs, as well as a handful of unreleased jams that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Stream the EP before you buy it on Beatport and download the mix after the jump. Continue Reading
It’s almost Miami-time and you know what that means. Handfuls of parties hosted by the world’s finest artists, labels, and brands will be in effect next week, including the Dirtybird BBQ event at the luxurious Villa 221 in Downtown Miami next Thursday the 22nd. Over the past decade, Claude VonStroke, Worthy, and the Martin Brothers have been hosting parties in the park in San Francisco, and this year they’ve decided to take their grillin’ skills to Miami. Starting at noon, the event will feature DJ sets from Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, Leroy Peppers (AKA Christian Martin), Catz N Dogz, Eats Everything, and more. For those going to Miami, we highly encourage your attendance at this daytime event, and to help out, we’re giving away a pair of guestlist spots.

It was the beginning of October, and remixes for Crazy P‘s ‘Changes’ began to surface. Amongst the plethora of good renditions that I heard, one stood out more than any other, and it was from a Bristol artist that I had never come across before — Lukas. As I usually do when I find good new music from an unfamiliar moniker, I check back catalogs, social media sites, etc., and after going about this with Lukas I wanted to know more. So I reached out across the Atlantic to see what this producer was up to, and it turned out to be a lot more than I thought!
Click on after the jump to download a mix with numerous unreleased jams made exclusively for GDD™ and check out my interview with the multifaceted producer where we chat about his infamous party Alfresco Disco, the rising Bristol scene, and more. Continue Reading
For the second installment of Solo‘s freshly established Congaloid imprint slated for release on December 19th, the labelhead commissioned the young, groovy producer known as Seka, and surprise, surprise, he’s from Bristol. Bristol seems to be recreating itself as a hub for some of the best dance music today. With producers like Julio Bashmore, Eats Everything, and Seka synthesizing this fresh sound and rapidly releasing original tracks, it’s no wonder why Pete Tong gave the city a huge shout out on the Essential Mix a few weeks back. Here’s what Solo had to say about signing the youngblood:
“When I have received Andy’s EP I was quite surprised. At the time I was spending some weeks in Bali, and just starting to organise things, hoping to find the right people to work together with. I wrote on Facebook about my future label plans, and wasn’t really expecting demos just yet. Only few minutes later Seka sent me an email and asked to check these 2 songs. I felt straight away that those grooves had something right, so I tried them both that night, and even tho they were still rough demos, they worked a treat. People were smiling during those 2 mini-catchy-swing numbers, so I was sold. Seka became part of the adventure, and while I hope that you are gonna play this record, I am excited to have him in the Congaloid team, cause his new demos are sounding really good too…”
Today in honor of thanksgiving, we are pleased to give you a special “Dirt” with all the fixings. We decided to give you more than tracks than usual featuring an even wider variety than you’re used to. So please sit back, relax, and enjoy your turkey day.
• Eats Everything- The Size √+
• Laidback Luke & Sander Van Doorn – Who’s Wearing The Cap?
• Maelstrom – Draggin’
• Treasure Fingers – Take My Hand
• Pat Lok – No Shame (Goldroom Remix)
A bottle rinses up on the shore. It is filled with euphoria, sunshine, and a crescendo from outer space. Our good buddy Josh (Goldroom) keeps pumping out instant classics that will make your soul glow.
• Miguel Campbell – Baby I Got It (Edit Murphy Remix)
Edit Murphy is apparently here to stay. He gets deeper than his other productions here, so purse your lips, bob your head, and don’t go home tonight. Caus’ baby you got it!
• Luther Vandross – I Wonder (SAH Re-Froth)
SAH was foraging in a long forgotten place between space and time and stubbled upon a funky ball of tits. He had the funk, and had to keep the funk alive. It’s the spawn of a new time where light up dance floors glisten off a tan butt poached up on a lengthy pair of stems.
• Christophe – The Force (Julio Bashmore Piano Mix)
Beautiful piano rework of a rather amazing original. This instrumental journey will consist of copious amounts of cocaine with Stevie Wonder while floating on a cloud.
• Moby – The Right Thing ft. Inyang Bassey (Cosmonauts Remix)
The Cosmonauts can do no wrong. Surely a Moby foundation can’t hurt either. Space disco is in, just like monster tits stuffed beneath an undersized “GO DEEP” tee.
