The long-awaited Hypercolour release from Justin Martin and Eats Everything is finally right around the corner, with the digital release on Monday the 11th. Eats has said that this is the first of many collaboration EPs between the jolly duo, and based on the sound from this EP, we can’t wait. With many collaborations, it’s easy to tell who does most of the legwork, but with Feather Fight, the talent from both producers truly shines through individually as well as synergistically. Preview below and pick it up on Monday. √+

Last month we caught up with Eats Everything in our exclusive interview and the tremendous year he’s been having – as one of our top breakthrough artists from 2012 and a personal favorite of mine, it’s only fitting that he would cap off the year with his studio essential mix debut for BBC Radio 1 (Yes I know he’s done a live one) doing an ‘Edits Everything Special’ of the legendary 2 hour mix series. Educate yourself with some of the best music out there – most of which is from the man himself. Dig in.
“Make sure you make me look like a complete wanker.” were Eats Everything’s (aka Daniel Pearce) parting words to me. Mind you, this is at a cracking warehouse party around 5AM, where he’s still bouncing around and having a (ahem) JOLLY GOOD TIME. That’s just the type of person the house producer from Bristol is. Brimming with cheeky English humor and infectious personality, it took all of half a second upon meeting him to realize this was going to be the easiest interview ever.
You can read the interview after the jump, and be sure to check out his new EP on dirtybird, and tune into his radio show on IHeartRadio every Thursday at 9PM EST.
In anticipation for one of my favorite holidays (mostly because it almost always lasts WAY longer than a day, and you definitely can’t say that about 4th of July now can you?) I’ve decided to bring you the unofficial chemical sponsor of this fine day we call Halloween for this edition of Science Sundays: Sucrose.
Sucrose is some pretty basic stuff. Just table sugar. The ultimate “guilty pleasure” and sworn enemy of weight-conscious folks the world over. It’s what makes things we eat sweet! When listening to the tracks below, know that I am erring on the side of an eight-year-old and NOT your dietician and saying you can have all the sugar you want. These songs are, for lack of a better term, pretty freakin’ sweet. Some are just feel good-tracks, a nice little boost of energy like a handful of M&Ms. Some are full on guilty pleasures, like that second brownie you definitely would be embarrassed to be caught eating but loved every delicious morsel. Either way, the moral of the story here is that a little sugar in your day is a good thing. This halloween, grab your ring pop & go dance the night away.
Good morning! Today’s news includes Bassnectar’s European Vacation, Lindstrøm’s New Album, the Eats Everything US Tour, and Miguel Campbell getting Back in Flight School. Please read on after the jump.
A massive 12 song compilation dropped today compliments of Moda Black. The roster of artists appearing in the package is a dream-team of rising stars like Disclosure, Eats Everything, Nick Monaco, and Kill Frenzy. I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite out of the bunch, as the tunes vary from the deep house camp over to the peak-time warehouse vibe. Expect to hear a fair bit of this compilation this summer, especially since Moda Black’s label heads are none other than BBC1′s Jaymo & Andy George. Pick up a copy on iTunes or Amazon. Check out previews after the jump.
Okay so I’ve been hoarding this since I was lucky enough to receive a promo after WMC, but for all that don’t already know – Daniel Pierce aka Eats Everything is back in the spotlight with his incredible follow up Jagged Elbow EP on Pets Recordings. The Bristol native exploded onto the record label last year with the massively supported ‘Entrance Song,’ earning him a BBC Radio 1 Essential mix and a capture into the DirtyBird family by label chief Claude VonStroke. The big man since then has been busy at work with tour dates across the world and stunning remixes setting him a cut above any other on their respectable releases (not to mention his production as one part of the duo Waif & Strays).
Officially released on Monday, the Jagged Elbow EP first features a-side ‘Jagged Edge’ – a darker toned blend of weighty bassline with haunting vocals, pinched guitar riffs and wet brassy chords . The b-side ‘This Elbow’ (originally titled ‘Food’ during WMC haha) is a more low end driven bouncy bass tune with uptempo hat swings and bobbing chord stabs to the spirit of soulful house music.
