GDD™ and dubFrequency are teaming up once again for an escape to the desert this Friday through Sunday in Palm Springs. With Carmaggedon looming and hours of traffic on the closed 405 freeway inevitable, it was a no-brainer to repeat the amazing getaway we had at the end of July at The Saguaro Hotel. GDD™ DJs (Bones, aRod, Shae B, and Burn Unit), No Shirt | No Shoes DJs (Tropicool, Bixel Boys, SAH, and Junkyard), and our friends Kedd Cook and White on Rice will be putting down the best grooves by the pool all weekend long.

Book $99 rooms HERE and get more info HERE.

See you in the heat.

Combining different elements together is what creation is all about. Creating a feeling, mood, vibe, or even flavor is what tickles our senses and keeps us coming back for more. Local tastemakers over at dubFrequency, The Bixel Boys, have just released something extremely special. It’s LookBook that pairs music with imagery and the season at hand. I’ve found myself lost in the pages for a few days now, its quite the aphrodisiac.

Foreword from Bixel:
Known for their select brand of mixtapes, LA’s DJ Duo Bixel Boys have released something a little different. The Bixel Boys 2011 Fall / Winter Lookbook. An amalgam of stunning sexy imagery and hand picked songs, the Bixel Boys Fall / Winter look book is a finely curated collection that invites you into the fall and winter seasons. While their mixtapes provide a back drop to our everyday lives, the Lookbook allows us to peer deeper into Bixel brand. Even if you’ve heard these songs before, maybe only some, or maybe none at all; the Lookbook provides a new way to enjoy them. Rather than a blog, the Lookbook will be refreshed seasonally, each time with a new theme and curated crop of songs to either: stream from the Lookbook or play on your iPhone with the downloadable sampler. Enjoy.

We’d like to thank everyone who came out for the last couple weeks of our VERSUS party downtown @ ICON. Unfortunately, the management was not on the same musically-oriented page as us, and we weren’t happy! We want this weekly party to be the easiest way for you guys to dance dirty on a Thursday night, and that includes location, price, and fun level (duh).

So this week, we bring you a special VERSUS party – underground disco edition @ the (downtown) Belasco Theater Basement. To keep the summer groovin vibes and the dirty disco atmosphere, we bring you a one-off event in one of the coolest locations in Los Angeles. The now LA-based U-TERN will showcase his disc jockey skills and be supported by our good buddies Guns In The Sun, along with our GDD resident chill wave Tropicool and dF’s No Shirt/No Shoes Bixel Boys. Man oh man, are we in for it again.

OPEN BAR:
What makes this thursday more attractive? Oh yeah, the OPEN BAR until 11pm doesn’t hurt either. The party starts @ 10, so you oughta’ get there for the power hour to warm up those disco dance moves!
