Dr. Fresch is back with a club ready rework of Nelly Furtado and Timbaland’s classic “Promiscuous.” Dr. Fresch’s injects his unique blend of deep, trap, and bass into this remix to bring the pop hit into the context of contemporary future music:
“It’s been way too long since I heard ‘Promiscuous’ played out in the club – I had to give the track a facelift so I could start dropping it in my sets and bring the heat back. The project clicked for me instantly, because of how the vocals lent themselves to be remixed from both a deep approach and a future approach as well. I’m excited to hear this one played out!” – Dr. Fresch
Last week, I embarked on a journey to Cabo San Lucas, and the timing couldn’t have been better as I had just received this vibey guest mix from our homie, SNBRN aka Kevin Chapman. With a slew of remixes recently topping the Hype Machine charts, this LA native is enjoying a breakout Summer, and he’s expected to continue on his ascent as he performs alongside other world-class artists at events like Splash House, while producing more crowd-favorite tracks. Now SNBRN has delivered a fantastic mix featuring a plethora of poolside jams that are to be enjoyed well-chilled, whether you’re in a place like Cabo or not.
Dr. Fresh has been spitting hot fire lately. His most recent take on ‘Snoop Dogg’s – Sexual Seduction’ turns the legendary down tempo track into a futuristic dance floor heater.
Dr. Fresch on the remix:
“I’ve always been a huge fan of this song, because of how Snoop was able to mix his brand seamlessly with an 80′s inspired, retro yet forward thinking sound. Because of the different qualities that Snoop’s sung vocals and hip hop verse carry, I was able to use both differently to create a dynamic future remix that spans across several different genres, while maintaining true to my production style and brand.”
Dr. Fresch is proud to announce the release of KDrew – “Last Train To Paradise (Dr. Fresch)”, as the winning remix of Good Game Records’ KDrew – “Last Train To Paradise” official remix competition! Dr. Fresch’s remix is now available for free download through Good Game Records’ SoundCloud. In addition to receiving an official remix release on Good Game Records, Dr. Fresch will also be performing on the main stage at Red Rocks, Colorado on July 18th at Global Dance Festival as a part of the grand prize for winning the competition. It tastes good, and is plenty funky! Check it out below.
Dr. Fresch is back with another feel good remix of a 90′s classic; this time he’s bringing summer along with a fresch new take on No Doubt‘s “Hella Good.” In his own words, “I chose to remix Hella Good because it was one of my favorite pop songs growing up and no one has touched the track recently. The original song (as an entire piece) does not breathe summer, however, both the lyrics and vocal melody do. Because the vocals held this feel-good quality, I was able to reinterpret the song within the context of forward thinking electronic music; remaining true to the Dr. Fresch brand by giving the remix a tropical club makeover. I want my “Hella Good” remix to be a Summer anthem!”
LA’s Dr. Fresch has been cultivating a strong online presence with his catchy bass-driven productions, while running his own label, Prep School Recordings, that is becoming a hub for emerging talent. With a diverse style ranging from chilled-out trap to disco and deep house, he draws upon a medley of influences to manifest his genre-fusing sound that has won him top spots on the Hype Machine and Billboard’s Next Big Sound. In his guest mix, Dr. Fresch weaves through club-ready floor fillers, like his latest track, “You’re My Obsession” ft. Nate Dogg & Animotion, Dusky’s “Careless,” and Tchami’s A Tribe Called Quest remix, before slowly dropping the tempo for a smooth, vibey finish.
Apart from his mix, we were able to catch up with Dr. Fresch about his latest single, LA’s influence on his music, plans for Prep School Recordings, and his own future musical endeavors. Read the full interview and check out the tracklist for the mix after the jump.
