Formed through a mutual love of jackin’ deep house and techno, the production and DJ duo, DKDS, has been bubblin’ up since their inception in NYC’s underground. With an affinity for darker vibes, they’ve been focusing on a sound fit for all night warehouse parties and the like, so it’s no surprise that they are adding to their Safer At Night catalog with a forthcoming EP dropping in the Fall. To tide you over until then, we’ve enlisted DKDS for a guest mix, and they have brought us an excellent 1-hour offering featuring a diverse selection of jams that will easily satisfy your need for grooves.

The NY-based mystery man Curses has hit the ground running in 2014, spearheading the label project Safer At Night and a new mixtape series to highlight the artists on board. The second installment features DKDS, a young duo also out of the empire state boasting a recent premiere on Annie Mac for their new single “Coast To Coast.” With big tribal drums and a haunting house driven lead, DKDS embody what Safer At Night is here to stand for. Listen to their exclusive mix below and check out the new single as played on Radio 1!
If NYC duo DKDS haven’t made their way onto your radar just yet, don’t worry, but let this mix be a nice little introduction for you. Two cousins sharing a passion for House and Techno, DKDS started only in the past couple of years and the guys have seemingly just started working on originals within the past 6 months, hanging under the wing of T&B bossman Luca Venezia and his √+ project, Curses.
The guys have been announced to play Verboten‘s New Year’s Eve event at a massive warehouse location in the city, joining up with Eats Everything, Star Eyes, and a special guest to be announced closer to the event, and to give us a preview of their set, DKDS have put together the most recent installment of Verboten Transmissions, featuring over an hour of some jackin’ tunes that are putting me in a warehouse vibe for sure.
We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on these guys in 2014…
2013 is without a doubt Trouble & Bass’ year. The Brooklyn-based label and DJ collective has so many upcoming releases and is making so many big moves that I had to chat with Luca Venezia of Drop The Lime fame and founder of the dark creative collective to make sure I had everything straight. And after witnessing the face melting awesomeness at their BASS CLASH event with Mixpak a few weeks ago, I’ve gotta say that these dark Dons are leaders in their field and definitely ones to watch.
