Dan Pearce AKA Eats Everything will be kicking off his EDIBLE Tour this weekend in the UK, and the lineups that the jolly gentleman has curated for the 4-date tour this month are nothing short of spectacular. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Catz N Dogz, T. Williams, and Richy Ahmed are just some of the talent joining Eats throughout May, including a blowout last tour stop in his hometown of Bristol. Additionally, included in this teaser video is another new collaboration between Eats and fellow dirtybird, Justin Martin, and it’s too damn good. I overheard that these guys have been making a number of tracks together in the past year, so I guess we’ll see how they end up getting released. I’m getting my hopes up for an LP. This one, “The Gettup,” will be released on dirtybird in early June.
Kill Frenzy‘s storming debut on dirtybird, the addictive, juke charged brute with its ingenious hip hop breakdown, is back for re-release with a slew of remixes from some choice label affiliates. Not content with the originals genre-traversing legacy (including plays from Soul Clap to Skrillex and pretty much everyone in between), Belgiums booty obsessed Kill Frenzy has rallied the likes of The Martin Brothers, Zombie Disco Squad, Plastician and Mark Starr to deliver their own take on the track, bringing the work out to brand new dance floors in the process.
The Martin Brothers (Justin & Christian Martin) set the pace with a characteristically heavy house bass line, the twisted “make that booty clap” vocal sample dancing over the driving groove. Zombie Disco Squad let’s the buttock-smacking claps take centre stage, while a clever percussion score and perfectly timed ellipsis make for certified ghetto house dance floor material. Dirtybird debutant by way of Croydon, Plastician, focuses on the bass elements of the original, creating a swaying dubstep rhythm where booty claps become glock pops before your very eyes, while Mark Starr opts for a similarly languid groove, without losing sight of Kill Frenzy‘s playful genre-splicing.
“Make That Booty Clap” became an instant milestone in the dirtybird canon and its great to see Kill Frenzy’s debut receiving such masterful reworks a year on.”- Claude VonStroke

In another tasteful move, Claude VonStroke and the dirtybird imprint have launched a new release dubbed dirtybird Players, “a showcase of all the key artists and upcoming talent on the label” and “an up-front taste of the full length compilation and world tour coming this Spring,” according to head bird, Claude VonStroke. In this 3-track sampler, we hear tracks from the young bird, Justin Jay, the OG bird, Worthy, and a third track from Birmingham duo, Cause & Affect, which CvS actually played out for weeks as an unmarked demo before actually realizing who it came from. All three tracks, as you can imagine, are √+, so preview now and pick it up on Beatport next Wednesday the 23rd.
If you’re like us at GDD™, then you’re probably just as obsessed with the dirtybird label and collective as we are. At the forefront of a genre-blurring, widely appealing, eclectic sound, dirtybird artists all seem to have a knack for making bouncy, fun tunes that are as deep as they are bassy, which is why we had to invite a couple fantastic young producers, Ardalan and Justin Jay, to VERSUS this week for a little showcase of their talent.
With Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year, it only makes sense for festivities to begin this Friday, and who better to kick off your excessive Halloween week than the dirtybird crew! Head honcho Claude VonStroke will headline the night; accompanied by his right hand man, Justin Martin, and the youngster and LA local, Justin Jay, who has made an excellent Halloween mix that you can download for free below. In addition to providing the best tunes you’ll hear in LA, the Avalon has upped production for this event, bringing in zombies, ghouls, and ghosts fit for a Universal Studios scarefest
We’ll also be holding down the GDD™ room, which is now the room that extends out of the front lobby, where we’ll have sets from recent LA transplant Troy Kurtz, Wood Holly, Kevin Anderson, and Check & Mate.
Please email names to RSVP@gottadancedirty.com to be on our discount guestlist for the evening. All names must be submitted by 5:30PM on Friday.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. Watch out for Justin Jay. The 19-year-old phenom has been making some serious noise in the bassline department, and it hasn’t gone unseen. Jay was quickly discovered by Claude Von Stroke and the DirtyBird crew, landing a spot as the youngest member of the San Francisco record label. His newest tune “The Dip” is available now exclusively on DirtyBird’s Drip.Fm membership – and will be FREE to the general public in 2 weeks. Check it out below, and don’t sleep on this kid.
Bring out your dry rubs and get ready to kiss the cook — dirtybird have just released their latest compilation, BBQ Trax, today featuring 4 new ones from Nick Monaco, Justin Jay, A1 Bassline, and Shadow Child & James Talk. Head honcho Claude VonStroke explains, “Before dirtybird was a record label it started as a San Francisco barbecue party based on sunshine, great music and carne asada. Friends playing good music out in the park for anyone who would show up. In celebration of the energy and spirit of the BBQ party we bring you this 4 track release with that summery open air vibe.” So fire up those charcoal grills and turn the volume up, dirtybird is bringing the fire. Okay so I’ve been hoarding this since I was lucky enough to receive a promo after WMC, but for all that don’t already know – Daniel Pierce aka Eats Everything is back in the spotlight with his incredible follow up Jagged Elbow EP on Pets Recordings. The Bristol native exploded onto the record label last year with the massively supported ‘Entrance Song,’ earning him a BBC Radio 1 Essential mix and a capture into the DirtyBird family by label chief Claude VonStroke. The big man since then has been busy at work with tour dates across the world and stunning remixes setting him a cut above any other on their respectable releases (not to mention his production as one part of the duo Waif & Strays).
Officially released on Monday, the Jagged Elbow EP first features a-side ‘Jagged Edge’ – a darker toned blend of weighty bassline with haunting vocals, pinched guitar riffs and wet brassy chords . The b-side ‘This Elbow’ (originally titled ‘Food’ during WMC haha) is a more low end driven bouncy bass tune with uptempo hat swings and bobbing chord stabs to the spirit of soulful house music.
The first original EP of 2012 on the dirtybird imprint comes from the new side project from London’s Dave Spoon — under the devious moniker of Shadow Child. The self-titled EP consists of two original tracks, ‘String Thing’ and ‘Rustic Chip,’ which blend genre lines between Solid Groove and Drum N Bass and have both already received support and air time from some of dirtybird‘s finest, Claude VonStoke and Eats Everything. To celebrate yesterday’s release, Shadow Child put together a fantastic mix including a number of TUNES from dirtybird, Pets, and Night Slugs, as well as a handful of unreleased jams that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Stream the EP before you buy it on Beatport and download the mix after the jump. Continue Reading
