LA’s Ruff Hauser has been pushing the boundaries of bass music for over a decade now, and today he launches the debut release of his new Cats & Boots imprint with his Rotate Them Hips EP. His booty-tech monster was doing the rounds with DJs from the dirtybird and Anabatic camps before he assembled a top-shelf crew to remix the track that includes Mark Starr, Troy Kurtz, Roy Wilkins, Ghostea, and Perfect Driver. Having already been played on both BBC1 and Rinse FM prior to the release, there’s a fair bit of hype around the package, and we’re excited about the prospects of another rising music label for the West Coast. You can pick up the release now on Beatport.

Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, the third installment of my Haute & Bothered mixtape series has arrived after a year’s hiatus. The aesthetic draws heavily from certain tracks that disavow basic genre umbrellas, and after crawling out of the deep house black hole that I found myself in the last year, it seemed right to enter the autumnal equinox with a grip of new tracks that subscribe to this mantra from the likes of Curses, Canblaster, SCNTST, as well as an original track from myself mixed into the fray.
Perseus and his French Express label mates are no strangers to our weekly party in Miami, and the man in charge of the dynamic pack is back on the carpet at Bardot tonight alongside the trio of residents. After storming onto the scene late in 2011, the French Express name has found respect in the underground markets while also having that cross-over appeal that’s seemingly difficult to accomplish. Pre-sale tickets for tonight’s event are still available here. Continue Reading
Hot Since 82 is having a banner year, and the man from Leeds is showing absolutely no signs of slowing. So far this year he’s already had a couple chart topping hits, and I’m claiming his latest remix of Green Velvet to sit comfortably atop the ranks when it sees a release on Circus Recordings. With a commanding bassline that churns under the haunting vocals of Green Velvet, this tune is primed to be doing the rounds across the globe.
This year our favorite festival has a very special addition that we are all very excited to experience. The Yuma Stage is a new feature at Coachella that is stacked with some of the top DJs and legends of the deep house scene. To some this is probably everything you have dreamed of; while to others the names and the music might be unfamiliar. Not to worry though because I have crafted a mix that hopes to encapsulate the vibes played throughout the Yuma the next two weekends. Take a listen to prepare yourself for Coachella’s newest stage. It’s going to be a glorious two weeks!
There is something very appealing about these new G-House tracks starting to surface. Deep house basslines and hip hop vocals blend together seamlessly, bringing a fresh new funk to the dance floor. Tapesh is on the front-lines of this new style and recently released his version of Tyga’s hit Rack City. As always…Listen. Download. Enjoy!
Following their chart-topping collaborative EP release Careless, the infamous slime of duo Jack Beats has teamed up with label collective OWSLA once again with an evolved sound (that we’re really happy to hear). Off their forthcoming EP Somebody To Love, their first single off the release “Just A Beat” is a deeper and minimally executed (almost garage-like) production that still rings true to the signature Jack Beats sound we’ve all grown to salivate over.

Slap & Tickle resident DJ Santiago Caballero delivers an extremely tasty first installment of his Sanduguera mix series. Clearly inspired by the late nights that we’ve spent manning the decks together at Miami’s infamous Electric Pickle, his mix delivers a dollop of deep basslines and wondrous house tunes. For those of you in Miami this Halloween, you can catch Santi warming up for The Magician on October 31st at Bardot. Click here for more info.
