“Real thugs play house music” is the motto tied to the Philadelphia born and raised Dances With White Girls and it’s for good reason. You may be familiar with the man behind the unmistakeable name from his past affiliation with The Rapture, their then Throne of Blood label, and for his most recent co-production with Mattie Safer (formerly of The Rapture) on “Is That Your Girl?”. Regardless, you should known that he just came out with his boldly named after-hours track “It’s About the House,” along with a plethora of great remixes. Like me, I’m sure most of you have been to an Electro/Dubstep/Bass event and you’ve felt the low end penetrate your entire body making you feel like someone just stuck a vibrator into your left ventricle. Graphic yes, but you get the picture right? Anyway, this week I happened to be chatting with Justin Brown, of Tommie Sunshine‘s Brooklyn Fire Records, and he sent over this brand new collaborative track from Germany’s JSK and NYC’s Dances With White Girls that reminded me of the aforementioned feeling. ‘Shake That Thing’ is the 4th release on the Brooklyn Fire imprint, and with label support from Tiesto, Laidback Luke, Bart B More, Kaskade, and more, I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more great releases this year. If you like it, show some love and buy it on Beatport.
I know it’s a little late notice, but it’s a big night at Cinespace tonight kiddos! As you can see above, Midnight Juggernauts will be performing live off of their new album, The Crystal Axis, which was released on Siberia Records in June. Main stage will also play host to another live performance from Las Vegas electro trio, Afghan Raiders, who will also be making an appearance at HARD Summer in August. I don’t know about you all, but I love to see live shows as often as possible, so I would definitely suggest making it out to catch both of these acts.
On top of the live sets in the main room, an all star DJ lineup will also be in effect including Dances With White Girls, DCUP (one of the masterminds behind the epic summer hit ‘We No Speak Americano’), and your friendly resident DJs Them Jeans and Dan Oh.
Buy your $10 presale tickets here! I think they’re giving away a free vinyl signed by Aoki too.
