Damian Lazarus and the Crosstown Rebels camp are putting on a monuMENTAL event this December 20th-21st in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to celebrate the end of the Mayan calendar. DAY ZERO will be a 24-hour event, bringing in some of the world’s best talent to a breathtaking pyramid site between two lakes in the resort location. To honor this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, Venezuelan duo, Fur Coat, have put together a special edition Guest Mix for us at GDD™, featuring an hour of Deep, Techy greatness that would make even the great Mayan tribe get in the groove. Fur Coat rapidly entered the North American Tech/Deep House scene this year with their breakout single, “You And I.” The druggy original was quickly picked up by Crosstown Rebels boss, Damian Lazarus, and the duo from Venezuela were signed on to the famed imprint for their debut album, Mind Over Matter, which was released last Monday. Sergio and Israel have put together a promo mix to accompany the milestone, featuring an hour of heady tunes to get your Monday grooving. Download below.
Damian Lazarus‘ Crosstown Rebels will be celebrating its 100th release with a new EP from Tiga out on the 27th of this month, and in usual, odd Crosstown Rebels fashion, Damian has made a hilarious video to commemorate the milestone. You ever wonder what Damian looks like at 100? Check out the video.
After listening to Tiga‘s firing remix of the new FOOTPRINTZ single this morning, I did a bit of digging to see what the man from Montreal has been up to recently. Very pleasantly surprised, I learned that Tiga was coming out of a multi-year original solo production hiatus to make the 100th release for Damian Lazarus‘ Crosstown Rebels imprint. The EP is titled The Picture and will be released August 27th, with two originals as well as a remix from Crosstown’s Subb-An. The entire EP evokes a dark characteristic that agrees with the underground label’s reputation and matches it with Tech/Pop sensibilities from Tiga. With nearly 10 years under its belt, we congratulate Damian Lazarus and Crosstown Rebels on their 100th release, and commend Tiga on his much appreciated return to his solo project. √++Continue Reading
Los Angeles, I can confidently say that this Saturday marks one of the best dance music events to ever happen in this city. Crosstown Rebels, the lauded label run by the mysteriously interesting Damian Lazarus, and Flaunt Magazine are bringing the infamous Get Lost party to the West Coast after multiple successful and wildly hedonistic events during WMC in Miami in years past. With some of the biggest names in the global underground scene, Get Lost LA should be a bequest of auditory knowledge to all electronic music enthusiasts in this city. Find all necessary info below and make sure to read after the jump to see what Los Angeles’ trio, Droog, have to say about Get Lost, the Culprit label, and how Jamie Jones and Lee Foss helped them be where they’re at now.
