The past few months have been an absolute flurry of activity for the young Canadian remix prodigy that is Cyril Hahn. With undeniably infectious takes on tracks from female crooners like Destiny’s Child and Mariah Carey, his SoundCloud has hit massive play counts. It’s slowed R&B with pop sensibility… a danceable, oxytocin-laced fusion of groovy and catchy with touches of garage and UK vibes. Pretty much what every person with reasonable taste in music wants to put on their sex playlist. Who could be mad at that?

After his multitude of successes with his releases and mixes, he hit Europe for tour, and it’s finally that time for him to hit the states. Naturally it wouldn’t be a trip to the US without a stop in LA, which I am more than thrilled about. Having officially joined the AM Only roster, a whole North American tour in the works, and multitudes of Coachella friends in town, Cyril Hahn has much to be excited about for his show tonight at the Belasco. I can’t tell you who the special guests (YES, MORE THAN ONE!) are, but I can tell you it’s being presented by Goldenvoice (cough cough)… and you have two clues in the previous sentence. Oh yeah, I can also tell you that apart from Cyril Hahn guaranteed to provide some sexy jams this evening, the special guests are FUCKING AWESOME and you basically are a big dummy if you miss out.

Purchase tickets below, oh and if you’re on the fence about it (shame on you), go ahead and listen to the GDD Guest Mix he did to get you in the mood.

Poupon January 2013 Tour

Toronto gentleman Poupon is trekking back over to the states for a quick US tour after kicking off his new residency at Velvet in Montreal on the 12th.

In celebration and anticipation of the upcoming shows, Poupon has released his newest version of his mixtape series “Cooked Up”. Cooked Up Volume 7 keeps with the tradition of the previous mixes by putting together the latest and greatest across the range of house music. Keep an ear out for new tracks from producer friends Forrest, Urulu, and Cyril Hahn, along with tracks from Poupon’s upcoming releases: an EP on Detroit imprint Incorrect Music, a collaboration with Prince Club on the legendary Nervous Records, and a collaboration with French DJ/producer D.FINE.

It’s rather alarming how much being a musician amps up a gentleman’s (or lady’s) “sexiness” level, but there’s no denying it’s true. Musicians have been beacons of much affection for as long as music has existed, perhaps (this is my psych major talking here) because of our innate emotional connection to music, or maybe by some grace of god the handsome gene is connected to the music affinity gene. Who knows. Although I’m more particular to band dudes (drummers, specifically) there’s quite a few devilishly handsome gentlemen amongst the DJ/Producer world that are worthy of the ample female attention they get.

So here we are, as a preliminary chart to GDD’s “Best of 2012″…. Three Wise’s and my list of the “sexiest” artists amongst the electronic sphere. Not only are the below gentlemen considerably easy on the eyes, but their personalities, charisma, wit, and duh, MUSIC all add to culminate what I’d like to call “sexy”. Keep doing your thing, boys. Check out the list all the way to #1 after the jump (my votes in blue, Three Wise’s in red) and let us know where your most handsome DJs rank! -Laura.

YEEEW! Dirt time & all I gotta say is I am very DTF with all of the songs so generously being put into the mix this week. Very much a theme again here, slowed UK vibes and really strongly percussion-based tracks in my picks, and a bit of everything from Jonah; ubiquitously groovy of course. Tons of free jams for everyone to enjoy, and we’re really stoked on all of the producers below & highly recommend checking more of their stuff out! Cyril Hahn has been massively circling the realms of the internet these past few weeks, and with his ultra-sexy takes on R&B tunes and his compelling and slow-driven mixes, it comes as no surprise. After Annie Mac dropped his remix of Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” on BBC1, the fire quickly spread, with well over 400,000 plays currently on his SoundCloud link for that track alone. With the surge of steamy and provocative sounds being pushed by plenty of artists these days, Cyril Hahn is geared for a very promising future.

So here we are. For this week’s GDD™ mix series, I decided to nab the young Canadian producer for a nice little mix & interview. With an air of mystery and a scarily-good stream of remixes out, I am both intrigued and excited for what’s to come from Cyril. As the days start to get colder, I can only hope things get steamier :) But for now, I hope you all enjoy the s-l-o-w-e-d and sensual mix as much as I am, sip slow baby, sip slow.

Interview & Tracklist after the jump!
