Luca has really stepped back from his Drop The Lime moniker to focus on Curses this year, and I have to say I’m happy about it. Bringing in deep, black basslines and heads down, hands up vibes, Curses shows a darker side to Luca that we just can’t get enough of. His latest work comes in the form of a remix for London-based Crystal Fighters‘ “LA Calling,” adding his Gotham Wave steez to the contrarily vocal and jovial original. √+

From the hills of Navarre, Spain, the Basque trio dubbed Crystal Fighters continuously releases quality , energetic folktronica, and the first taste of their forthcoming sophomore album enticingly wets the palate for what is to come. The single “You & I” came out a couple of weeks ago via the group’s Soundcloud. It’s a joyous production, heavily influenced by live instruments and flowing uptempo vocals, and undoubtedly provides that ever-approaching summertime feel. GDD™ favorite Gigamesh has tried his hand at remixing the fantastic original, adding in a flickering, Kavinsky-esque synth — giving the track a much more electronic feel. Download the remix below and keep an eye out for Crystal Fighters’ album, Cave Rave, out May 27th.

This came out earlier this year and went a bit under the radar, but you definitely won’t be regifting this one. Could do without the hypeman vocals though…

PS – How are all of these holiday puns working for everyone? Good? OK.

Tom Elkington, or eLDOKO, has been on my radar since sweetFA did a post a couple months ago on Woodworm Blues, eLDOKO’s debut EP on Monkey Safari‘s What! What! label. Since then, Elkington has been working on a few remixes, two of them I felt the need to share with you today. According to his Soundcloud bio, eLDOKO finds and executes a fusion between Jazz, Swing, Tech, and House, resulting in a unique sound that you’d be hard-pressed to sleep on. Grab these goodies and let me know what you think.

Extremely impressive take on the massive track from James Blake released earlier this year. Add it to your collection.
I love this track. Something about the vocals always gets stuck in my head and eLDOKO adds a little more magic to the mix. He was offering it in WAV for free on his Soundcloud, so if you want a 192 mp3 version instead of the giant WAV file, click on the alternate link (•).

Fantastic remix from Round Table Knights recently released on the lauded Deadfish label. They’ll be coming over to North America this January so keep your eyes out for a stop near you! Pick up this in full quality, along with the rest of the massive Deadfish Remixed Vol. 1, at Beatport. It’s $12.99 well spent. Trust me.
