The monumental 24-hour event sitting between a pyramid site in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not only due to it falling on the day that the Mayan calendar ends but also it’s incredible lineup with some of the best talent in the world. Damian Lazarus, the man behind Crosstown Rebels and the Day Zero concept, has put together a new mix which he dubbed the “Sound of the Mayan Spirit.” If I were to celebrate the end of the current world cycle, I think I’d want this to be the soundtrack. Download the mix below until December 3rd, and pick up tickets to the festival here. √+

Damian Lazarus‘ Crosstown Rebels will be celebrating its 100th release with a new EP from Tiga out on the 27th of this month, and in usual, odd Crosstown Rebels fashion, Damian has made a hilarious video to commemorate the milestone. You ever wonder what Damian looks like at 100? Check out the video.
After listening to Tiga‘s firing remix of the new FOOTPRINTZ single this morning, I did a bit of digging to see what the man from Montreal has been up to recently. Very pleasantly surprised, I learned that Tiga was coming out of a multi-year original solo production hiatus to make the 100th release for Damian Lazarus‘ Crosstown Rebels imprint. The EP is titled The Picture and will be released August 27th, with two originals as well as a remix from Crosstown’s Subb-An. The entire EP evokes a dark characteristic that agrees with the underground label’s reputation and matches it with Tech/Pop sensibilities from Tiga. With nearly 10 years under its belt, we congratulate Damian Lazarus and Crosstown Rebels on their 100th release, and commend Tiga on his much appreciated return to his solo project. √++Continue Reading
