The first original EP of 2012 on the dirtybird imprint comes from the new side project from London’s Dave Spoon — under the devious moniker of Shadow Child. The self-titled EP consists of two original tracks, ‘String Thing’ and ‘Rustic Chip,’ which blend genre lines between Solid Groove and Drum N Bass and have both already received support and air time from some of dirtybird‘s finest, Claude VonStoke and Eats Everything. To celebrate yesterday’s release, Shadow Child put together a fantastic mix including a number of TUNES from dirtybird, Pets, and Night Slugs, as well as a handful of unreleased jams that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Stream the EP before you buy it on Beatport and download the mix after the jump. Continue Reading

We’ve been big fans of Italian-born, London-based House producer, Solo, for a while now. Since his original production, ‘Congaloid,’ was picked up by Dirtybird labelhead, Claude VonStroke, the man has only gotten better and better, and this Halloween, he’ll be releasing his new EP, Pumpernickel, on the Great Stuff imprint. Today, Solo was kind enough to put the EP up for stream on his Soundcloud as well as a fresh new October mix full of solid House tracks. Italian-born, London-based DJ/producer, Solo, has garnered much attention from House and Tech House music lovers in the past 3 years, including Claude VonStroke, who picked up Solo to his Dirtybird label in 2009 after hearing Solo’s get-on-the-map track, Congaloid. Since then, the band member turned electronic producer has also been signed to Deadfish, remixed the likes of Underworld, Depeche Mode, and Wiley, and was commissioned for the DJ Mag Mix last month. Can’t wait to hear more from this one.

This weekend we’re gearing up for some serious talent here in Los Angeles. On Friday, May 13th, the Avalon in Hollywood will be taken over by Dirtybird Records. Yes you heard right, Claude Vonstroke, Justin Martin and J. Phlip will be laying waste to the Avalon this friday, San Francisco style. My friends, this is not a show to miss.  The EDM scene just hasn’t been the same since Dirtybird released it’s first track in 2005, and the unstoppable label still manages to set trends, release copious amounts of original hits, and now boasts one of the meanest lineup of house artists the dance community has seen.

Please RSVP names to JONAH@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount ticket list for the evening. Please have all names submitted before 5:30PM on Friday.

$15 before 11PM

Interview and tunes after the jump!

This Friday, Dirtybird records is coming to the Gothic Theatre with its captain, Claude Von Stroke, alongside the lovely J.Phlip. How does it get better? They’ve asked me to be the special guest for the night, so your very own ///BONES will be dropping the GDD noise upon the Mile High City. The show is 18+, so all you under 21 dirty dancers can come get down to the ghettotech bay area bass that is the Dirtybird showcase. Tickets are selling fast, so grab them before Friday and expect one dirty ass night.

VonStroke live @ dirtybird 5 year birthday, San Francisco – Feb 2010 by Claude VonStroke

The redhead/househead from Bristol, Julio Bashmore, has been on my radar for a hot second now, mostly because any artist signed to dirtybird automatically makes my ears perk up, but this guy has been banging out some absolutely fantastic house tracks in the past couple years. Just this month, Julio has already released two original tracks on dirtybird’s BASS compilation as well as his ‘Everyone Needs A Theme Tune EP’ on PMR, and now he is currently working on a remix for Delphic, some kind of collaboration/remix with Mary Anne Hobbes, and of course, more choons for the bossman Claude VonStroke over at DB. I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be hearing a fair amount from this guy in 2011. Grab a preview of two of Mr. Bashmore’s tracks below, and make sure to head on over to Beatport and buy EVERYTHING.

Happy almost Halloween! It’s that time of year when girls dress with less, guys try to come up with some type of clever yet relevant costume, and ‘candy’ takes on a far different meaning than when you were munchin’ those Reese’s at 10pm after a serious trick or treating session in the 3rd grade.

Well dirty dancers, let me tell you that this Friday will be like no other CONTROL event that you have ever been to. The San Franciscan label known as dirtybird will be doing a full takeover of the mainstage at the Avalon in Hollywood with long, techy sets by label boss Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, and J.Phlip.

Today I have quite the treat for you. A GDD™ exclusive interview with the man with the golden voice, Mr. Pete Tong. Famous for his BBC Radio 1 programs, contributions to the global music community, recent productions, Ibiza club nights, and that discerning ear for hot new talent, the man is also a world-class talent behind the decks. Pete will be headlining the House of Horror stage alongside Armand Van Helden, Felix Da Housecat + more at this Saturday’s Monster Massive 2010.
