The redhead/househead from Bristol, Julio Bashmore, has been on my radar for a hot second now, mostly because any artist signed to dirtybird automatically makes my ears perk up, but this guy has been banging out some absolutely fantastic house tracks in the past couple years. Just this month, Julio has already released two original tracks on dirtybird’s BASS compilation as well as his ‘Everyone Needs A Theme Tune EP’ on PMR, and now he is currently working on a remix for Delphic, some kind of collaboration/remix with Mary Anne Hobbes, and of course, more choons for the bossman Claude VonStroke over at DB. I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be hearing a fair amount from this guy in 2011. Grab a preview of two of Mr. Bashmore’s tracks below, and make sure to head on over to Beatport and buy EVERYTHING.

Happy almost Halloween! It’s that time of year when girls dress with less, guys try to come up with some type of clever yet relevant costume, and ‘candy’ takes on a far different meaning than when you were munchin’ those Reese’s at 10pm after a serious trick or treating session in the 3rd grade.

Well dirty dancers, let me tell you that this Friday will be like no other CONTROL event that you have ever been to. The San Franciscan label known as dirtybird will be doing a full takeover of the mainstage at the Avalon in Hollywood with long, techy sets by label boss Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, and J.Phlip.

Today I have quite the treat for you. A GDD™ exclusive interview with the man with the golden voice, Mr. Pete Tong. Famous for his BBC Radio 1 programs, contributions to the global music community, recent productions, Ibiza club nights, and that discerning ear for hot new talent, the man is also a world-class talent behind the decks. Pete will be headlining the House of Horror stage alongside Armand Van Helden, Felix Da Housecat + more at this Saturday’s Monster Massive 2010.

I’ve been trying to think of an Aussie I’ve ever met whose company I didn’t enjoy. I’ve employed the memories of Señor Berry and SNEEVS as well but to no avail. I’ve also taken note over the years of the slew of Australians turning out choon after choon (most recently punctuated by an outstanding Bag Raiders album.) Through my extensive and scientifically verifiable research I’ve established two simple generalizations about the Aussies:
#1 They’re cool, they like to party.
#2 They’re talented, they enjoy/make good music.
If you doubt my conclusions then allow me to present to you EXHIBIT A: the Bareback DJ’s.

Bareback Dj’s – Mating Call– Downloadable by Bareback

Two pro surfers hailing from the land down under who now reside in San Diego, CA, these mates spend their time shredding waves by day and dance floors by night. Fairly new to the production game I imagine their skills will only continue to progress and after you hear these two tracks you’ll rest assured that means big things coming. Personally, I imagine these tunes finding a comfy home in a Claude VonStroke DJ set, but in the meantime make sure you download them straight off their SoundCloud so you can enjoy them AA24/7.
Keep up with the guys antics via the interweb HERE and/or HERE.

By the beard of Zeus was it hot in Los Angeles today! Someone told me that it hit 113 degrees in downtown which is restoring my faith and concern in global warming. Good thing the Penthouse is in close proximity to the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Anyway, this trifecta of turbulent tunage will definitely not cool you down, but who can dance dirty without getting a little hot n’ bothered? Get these goodies before they evaporate into the stratosphere!
These two are probably my favorite remixes of the smash hit by Cajmere AKA Curtis Jones AKA Green Velvet, although the Major Lazer and Riva Starr versions are very admirable as well. Pick up the entire Percolator Package on iTunes or Beatport. Oh, and just a little announcement; Claude VonStroke and Dada Life will both be coming to CONTROL at the Avalon in October and November, respectively. Yeeeeeehaw.
Our fellow LA resident Paparazzi just sent this over for a GDD™ exclusive release today. Big synth + Alexis’ vocals = always a good time. Paparazzi is currently working on an original EP and a few other remixes as well as planning to reinstate the famous Check Yo Ponytail party in a couple months along with iHeartComix‘ Franki Chan and Media Contender‘s Danny Johnson. Keep your peepers peeled!
