With new festivals spawning in all corners of the United States and abroad, it’s easy for an event to fly under the radar, but San Diego’s CRSSD Festival harnessed our attention with its outstanding music programming, gorgeous venue, and more. After an anxious few months, the long-awaited festival finally descended upon the bay front park, and thousands upon thousands attended to experience a summery soirée helmed by some of the world’s finest producer/DJs and musicians like Maceo Plex, Chromeo, Hot Natured, Robert Delong, GDD™ homies Thomas Jack, Viceroy, Bixel Boys, and SNBRN, amongst others. By now, you’ve probably heard that CRSSD Festival was a great success, but in our minds, it was the perfect way to kick off festival season.
Hear about our experiences on each day after the jump.
It’s your favorite time of the year, yet again– 2015 celebrations start in about 24 hours and you have no clue how you’ll be ringing it in.
This is what you read GDD™ for. I’d say Let’s Party NYE. Set in the gorgeous and epic (and Legendary) Park Plaza Hotel, you have one last chance to join me and a few of my closest friends for live sets by Blood Orange and Classixx, as well as DJ sets by GDD™ favorites (Thee) Mike B, Yacht, and yes, Blake Anderson from Workaholics. Make no mistake, this is the only celebrity DJ set I will endorse for 2015. Hopefully ever.
I rang up the organizers for #LetsPartyNYE to congratulate them on having a pretty cool name, and in doing so was able to arrange a 10% discount code for the GDD™ Extended Fam as a little holiday gift to us all. What’s more, they indulged, is that this sexy, three-stage soirée goes until 3AM, and each ticket comes with open bar. Easy, dear readers, easy…
Promocode GDDNYE gets you 10% and I look forward to seeing you workin’ that floor tomorrow night.

After nearly 10 years of composing and playing guitar/keyboards for the band Lotus, Luke Miller, aka Luke the Knife, turns his diverse musical skills and experience towards the DJ booth to revive a more organic funk and disco sound in the scene. With his extensive catalog of remixes and re-edits, he has been building a brand fit for the modern dance floor, much like his groovy jam band roots. Luke now gives us a guest mix that packages his tasteful nu-disco style into an impressive feel-good offering that includes many of his own stand-out edits, along with great tracks like Classixx’s remix of Panama’s “Always,” and the Treasure Fingers remix of “Without You” by Dillon Francis ft. TEED, among others. Download/Listen to the mix below and don’t miss his DJ sets or live performances that incorporate guitar, keys, guest drummers, percussionists, and a saxophonist.
Fresh off The Dirt from yesterday with Stevie and I, the always summer sounding Panama get a refix from the awesomely instrumental Classixx where a heavy dose of live bass amps up the original prepping it for your groovy endless summer days. The feel of the track is transformed through spacey beach guitar vibes yet the vocals remain intact to deliver their lovely message. Piano riffs scattered throughout accent Panama’s sound perfectly, delivering another instant classic…from the Classixx.

One of my personal favorites from Classixx‘s debut album, Hanging Gardens, has received the video treatment today, featuring a posh, nautical setting with Ms. Whang exemplifying all that is luxurious. Also included in the video produced by Urban Outfitters is a hilarious cameo from Tyler and Mike where they come into contact with the fabulous Nancy under the boat deck. Give it a watch!
Sweet, Sweet, disco nectar delivered strait to your door. This sun-kissed ultra funky mix mutates & cultivates the vibes of Tropicool‘s essence in the South Bay. Everything is in full bloom, the birds, bees, and the myrts feel it. The sand is warm and the micheladas are frosty. Poseidon is holding a conch shell to his ear, and the vibration station is starting to reverberate. Perv and swerve, because for this one, you’re meant to loose control while on cruise control.

Another tape, another silky smooth hour from our friends over at Solé Bicycle Co. This time LA based friends Classixx were on fixtape duty and they crushed it in the most sexy way possible. This tape consists of several magical tracks lost somewhere between time and space, but sure to make your earbuds smile. Get amongst it below!
May 14th is nearly here — the day that Classixx‘s long-awaited debut album will see release on Los Angeles-based imprint, Innovative Leisure. After receiving substantial acclaim for the first album single, ‘Holding On,’ Tyler and Mikey are back with the second single from the album, calling upon Nancy Whang (formerly of LCD Soundsystem) for a Pop-Funk original laden with dreamy vocals. ‘All You’re Waiting For’ along with the rest of the album will be available 3 weeks from today.
