Tha Funk Lordz were on a mission in 2013, dropping tons of new material and a Boiler Room set, preparing the masses for a funky 2014. To reiterate this point, a new single, “Come Alive,” featuring the indie dance sensation Toro Y Moi, has surfaced to forge their sound into the new year. Dave and Chaz (of Toro Y Moi) perform a good clean sexy duet and share some bars in this disco anthem as the effervescent Chromeo vibes…come alive! This new album, “White Girls,” that’s been teased with the release of the first couple singles, has a message heavily catered to those females out there grindin’ lookin’ to get on that global get down. Then again, who isn’t! Catch them touring the world this year alongside TOKiMONSTA and Oliver at any of their 22 stops with tickets going on sale this Friday. Continue Reading
After a wildly successful Boiler Room sesh where this track was debuted, a free download has surfaced on the web. Everyone’s favorite sultry funk duo is back at it with a sensual record that is sure to take your clothes off. Guitar vibes illuminate Dave’s smooth talkin’ lyrics for a sound that only Chromeo can create. The first of many new tracks, it’s safe to say all eyes are on these guys for their upcoming LP titled, “White Women.”
Last Saturday we returned once again to one of our favorite haunts, Webster Hall NYC. But this time it was a bit of a special occasion… aside from 4/20, A-Trakwas back in town and Webster was kicking off the start of their new weekly Brite Nites party….and it was an insane night to say the least. Check out what went down after the jump!
It was a perfect fall night as I walked a few blocks from my Manhattan apartment to the Hammerstein Ballroom at 34th and 8th Ave, listening to my newest downloads and getting pumped for the night. Justice was in the Big Apple and you better believe I was going to see them…no matter what.
Following up on the Night By Night’ remix we brought you by Wax Motif, we bring you another 2012 recreation of a Chromeo classic… Slow Roast Recs phenom Codes has brought the anthemic ‘Tenderoni’ back to life with a serious big room overhaul. Although you can’t beat the original, this is by far the best remix I’ve encountered (out of the masses we’ve heard over the years) with gritty leads and a bouncey bassline that brings back memories of the best of Crookers – circa 2009. The appeal stands refreshing too, Codes remix shines light on the recent surge in big room popularity and the few that stand tall among the– well, just god awful. This “Tenderoni 2012″ is a home run, and we’re proud to offer it up to you dirty dancers. Enjoy!
Chromeo‘s ‘Night By Night’ has become a classic in the funky duo’s large arsenal of originals. In the past couple of years, it’s been remixed by scores of producers — including Skream and Siriusmo who made the cut for the original remix EP in 2010. Now, our good mate from Sydney has put his touch on it, adding in a pair of excellent breakdowns which lead into a banging Electro/Techno revision. If you’re looking to add some Chromeo into a heavier set, this remix from Wax Motif is the one for you. Download after the jump! Continue Reading
Last week, we were very excited to premiere the amazingly groovy Gigamesh remix of the brand new Punks Jump Up track featuring the sultry vocals of Dave 1 of Chromeo, and this week, we are pleased to share the colorful, animated music video of the original. Sexy, bright, and voluptuous is how I would describe this music video — the funky track blends perfectly with the neon illumination throughout the entire production. Pick up the Mr. Overtime EPwith remixes from Mickey, Gigamesh, and Oliver out on Moda Music a week from today! √+
