Ever since one of our favorite dirtybirds, Justin Jay, dropped his Momentum EP on Pets Recordings just months ago, we knew it was going to be a fantastic year for LA native. In the midst of recent announcements for TomorrowWorld, Dirtybird Campout, CRSSD Festival, and Holy Ship 2016, Justin is coming through with his long-awaited collaboration with Chris Lorenzo that’s been dubbed “Storm.” Driven by both breakbeat and four-on-the-floor rhythms, this outstanding track showcases a hybridized sound featuring West coast and UK vibes for a perfect transatlantic offering. Listen to the track below and download it here via the tastemaker label, Black Butter Records.

The UK born collaboration of Chris Lake & Chris Lorenzo struck us right in the feels at the end of last year with their Wicked Games cover, and now take things into the club with their new original “Piano Hand”. Premiered by Annie Mac on her BBC Radio 1 Show, “Piano Hand” features a slick bass line groove, quirky cutup vocal samples, and a very speed garage-influenced sound very characteristic of Chris Lorenzo. Listen below, and pick it up today on Beatport!
“It’s a four minute twenty five second rippling beat opus that soars and whooshes but holds down the tempo, using the keys and the Armand Van Heldenesque beat builds and rave snares to push it into the strobelights.” – DMC World Magazine
We recently featured Tough Love‘s latest tune “So Freakin’ Tight,” and now their label is hitting the headlines. Established in 2012, Get Twisted Records has been supplying London and the rest of the world with huge garage/bass/house tunes. The latest release comes from Taiki Nulight, who came into 2015 hot with a massive remix of Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo. The “Higher” EP includes two tracks that are straight laced for late nights turned early mornings. The bass house vibes are strong, stream them below.
On one rainy day in Birmingham, Chris Lake (Rising/Mau5trap) and Chris Lorenzo (dirtybird/food music) met in the studio and produced this edit of Chris Isaak’s classic jam Wicked Games. Once they got a hold of the acapella, they knew they had to build a track around it. Everything was recorded using live instruments and they used no samples except the acapella of course. The result is this “Lush” “vacant but absorbent” edit that is something even your mother could dance too. Grab it below for FREE DL!
The Future Bass movement has taken firm footing in AC Slater‘s Night Bass shenanigans, and for good reason, it thumps. Galloping bass lines accented by walloping bass synths permeate this playlist. Curated exclusively for the dawg’s at Boomrat, it might be a choice decision to peruse before cruising to Night Bass tomorrow night (scattered in these selections are tracks from this weeks performers).
The powerful vocals of Jess Glynne in her newest single “Right Here” is a stunner in its own, premiering on MTV UK and ranking up over a million plays on soundcloud. It takes a lot to top a serious hit, but the mysterious Slinger has answered the call and delivered a low end monster fit for the club. Fans of Chris Lorenzo, Disclosure and Gorgon City will love this – listen below!
Next week in Los Angeles we welcome the Birmingham low-end lord Chris Lorenzo to NIGHT BASS, and we couldn’t be more excited. The man behind the emerald curtain that is Hannah Wants, Pete Graham, Legitimate Scandal, Cause & Affect and many more (that we don’t even know about) is gonna rip up Hollywood and you better not miss out. To get you ready for the festvities – and the weekend at that – NIGHT BASS teamed up with Thump Magazine to bring you an exclusive hour long mix from the bad man himself. Grab it below and hold on tight, this one gets a little bumpy…
The menacing low ends of Hannah Wants and Chris Lorenzo have made their way into Disclosure territory, their remix for “Confess To Me” surfacing today on soundcloud. The original was already one of the harder tracks on Settle but this is just BEAST MODE. Make sure to grab it May 4th on the official remix package!
Pete Graham is on deck for the next release on Shadow Child & Kry Wolf’s imprint, FOOD Music, and he’s called upon some good friends to collaborate with him on the 4-track EP. Specializing in bass heavy house, Pete calls upon the low end gods in the Friends EP, rattling the walls with lower than low basslines and thumping kicks. Studio partner Chris Lorenzo of Cause & Affect (who also collaborated with Graham on the popular Marina Gasolina refix) helps out on all 4 tracks on the release, with dirtybird youngster Mark Starr and fellow Brit, Marc Spence, each getting on a track. Preview all 4 big ones below. √+
