For this special 139th edition of The Dirt, we’ve teamed up with our homies, the Bixel Boys, who are quickly establishing themselves as ambassadors of the big-room underground sound. With their widely supported Black December EP (Sweat It Out!), recent Bring It On EP (Nervous Records), handful of addictive remixes/edits, and countless gigs in the bag, their career is gaining strong momentum that is sure to ride into 2014 and the many years to come. The Bixel Boys and myself have offered up our current favorite tracks touching on hip-hop, house, future bass, and more. ENJOY!

Yolanda Be Cool‘s massive rebranding effort from their 2010 hit single, “We No Speak Americano,” has proved to be very fruitful. Signing to Dim Mak Records for the U.S. release of their new album turned a lot of heads, and their mix for the label’s pool party in Miami stirred up a lot of passion. With many ID’s on their way according to some facebook activity, a new song and video titled, “A Baru In New York,” has come into being.

Two bouncy Holland duos, Chocolate Puma & Firebeatz, have joined forces for a new single due out on Spinnin’ Records July 16th, and it’s already gained massive support and attention from some of the world’s tops including Pete Tong, Axwell, Diplo, and Fatboy Slim. Everyone seems to be begging to get this track to play this summer, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until next month for its release. For now, this great music video will do.

A couple weeks back I posted the new single, ‘In The Blood,’ from British dance music vets, X-Press 2. The House jam released yesterday on Skint Records has a throwback feel to it, incorporating vocals from Alison Limerick who contributed her voice to many successful dance tracks in the 90s. Needless to say, I was impressed by the release and I wanted to check in with Diesel and Rocky of X-Press 2 to see what they were up to and get their seasoned perspective on some aspects of the burgeoning dance music scene. In addition to our chat, the guys also put together a fantastic, exclusive hour-long mix just for GDD™ that is available for download below. Get into everything after the jump and cruise on over to Beatport to pick up ‘In The Blood’ with remixes from AFFKT, Chocolate Puma, and Seamus Haji. Continue Reading

England’s X-Press 2 is a legendary dance music duo (used to be a trio until 2009) that has been on the scene for nearly two decades now. From their breakthrough hit single, ‘London X-Press,’ in 1993 to their massive collaboration, ‘Lazy,’ with Talking Heads frontman David Byrne in 2002 to this upcoming release featuring illustrious 90s House vocalist Alison Limerick, X-Press 2 have always managed to stay ahead of the curve. ‘In The Blood’ is a blast from the past masterpiece with incontrovertible influences from House music of the 90s, and the remixes from Chocolate Puma, AFFKT, and Seamus Haji assist in making this an overall √+ release. The EP will be released on May 28th via Skint Records. Continue Reading

So this is one of the shows that I’ve been looking forward to the most this month as this will be the first time seeing either of the headliners. I remember when I heard my roommate play Starkillers‘ dancefloor smasher ‘Bitch Ass Trick’ for the first time last summer, and ever since then I’ve been destined to see this guy play out. On top of that, we have the Dutch duo Bingo Players coming to drop some serious housey sound Friday night in Hollywood.
