Amidst the numerous entries that DFA records have been receiving for the remix competition of The Rapture‘s “How Deep Is Your Love,” one of the best perks is having some of the big guns offer there talent. Bang Gang crew’s Cassian just uploaded his remix this evening, absolutely for FREE. Here’s what the young auzzie had to say about it:
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to remix this track. I’d been dying to do it since I first heard the tune. So here it is, my entry for the How Deep Is Your Love remix competition.
On a Sunday night, in a beach town not so far away from you, I cracked open a Pacifico and began to ponder what I would do as the elusive evening drew closer and city lights began to flicker on. I decided to soul-search and ate a few silver-striped mushrooms out of an old embroidered Chinese box I had hidden beneath the dock. As I walked along the beach, the sand softly tickled my toes and the waves crashed in a perfect symphony. Just then, Poseidon’s froth had washed something hard up onto my foot. It was a glistening whiskey bottle; Jameson’s own to be exact. I opened it up, expecting a rich carmel liquid to engulf my soul and warm it from the inside out. However, out fell a flash drive where the words “Gooch-Tape #1″ were engraved. It was a sign; a sign that good things were coming. A sign that the warmth and sun-kissed poolside jams of summer would flow into the colorful world autumn had to offer. Warm your soul and paint your walls gold!

Gigamesh – “When You’re Dancing”. Not much really needs to be said about this one. Everyone’s been chomping at the bit for months for this EP to come out. People were excited enough when the title track was previewed way back in January. Then, once word got out about a Cassian remix, excitement levels were off the charts. And now, finally…it’s here. Do yourself a solid and go out and grab the funkiest, boogie down EP of the year, out now exclusively on Beatport.
Disco House master, Cassian, has decided to take a dip in the Slo-Mo Disco pool, diving straight into the funky deep end with his brand new remix of Brooklyn based producer/label boss Lou Teti. Lou’s label, Tigers on a Leash, are getting ready to release their third EP “I Know the Way” on August 15th on junodownload.com. Along with the Cassian remix, the EP also features remixes by Toomy Disco & Generatto (Pink Stallone). Check out the Cassian Remix below and grab a FREE 320 of the Cassian Dub HERE!
Mitzi are a well-oiled machine from Brisbane, Australia who make music that is whiskey to my ears. So smooth + velvety. Mitzi are a fearsome foursome who work very well together as bandmates. The smooth vocals & semi-frantic syncopated guitar coupled with live keys, analog synths and groovy basslines give the band a laid back but very dancefloor friendly disco punk sound.
In December of 2010, Mitzi released their “All I Heard” EP which also spawned two remix EPs. Mitzi has also taken the time to remix Cassian & Two Door Cinema Club. And so far everything they’ve done has turned up aces. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for these guys. Preview The Revenge remix of “Morning Light” here and be sure to grab “Mitzi – Vinyl Versions”, out June 20th on Future Classic.
Today marks the arrival of the Spring equinox and the perfect seasonal cocktail is now being served. My new SpringGlo 2011 Mix is a refreshing concoction that is 1 part dreamy + 1 1/2 parts disco, garnished with synth. Sip it, pound it, shoot it, share it – whatever it takes to keep you funked up from Spring all the way thru Summer…
You know you have the flu when wacking-off doesn’t even feel good. But, it also means a lotta good music for you! Well, actually tons of very good music. While I’ve been aching and tossing in bed, the past month has been a billowing heaven for awesome nu-disco and feel good jams. I’ll let the music speak for itself, and make sure you download ALL of it, because yes, it ALL is worth it. You can thank me later.
OK.ok, i know this was #1 on hypeM and blogged all over the place, but i couldn’t resist. Its just that damn good. Its indie-infused which i’m a huge sucker for, and we gotta give it up for our friends, LightsOverLA.
Barretso is one of my new favorite acts, if you’re just reading this now, grab the previous post here. This song is pure glitchy happy glory. Keep your eyes peeled for both Redial and Barretso in the future, they’re taking over a light up dance floor near you.
Funky fresh! All of this new grum is really giving me the heebee-geebies. Here’s the video to his new single “Can’t Shake this feeling.” Its out may 3rd directed by the General assembly and produced by TownHall.
