*Bedsqueak, bedsqueak* The reason Trippy Turtle may be one of the lesser known artists on the docket for Snowglobe Music Fest isn’t a lack of musical ability, the dude just likes to be anonymous. Before he began touring in his classic green turtle hood, Trippy’s identity was so well concealed that many attributed the act to his close friend Cashmere Cat. While we now know they are certainly not one in the same, one could say that their production skills do go hand in hand.
A true pioneer in the (relatively new to the lime light) Jersey Club scene, Trippy Turtle utilizes an obviously expansive mastery of sound to create truly entertaining and flawless works. Some of his more popular tunes include a huge collaboration remix of “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay” with DJ Hoodboi as well as his latest original “Trippy’s Theme.” If you find yourself in the mood to get down to some bed squeaks and water droplets in Tahoe this year, be sure to catch a sure-to-be stunning set from Trippy Turtle.

“2 Philly kids who like to bump” is the only quote necessary to describe the collaborative project known as Louis Futon. In less than a year the Philadelphia based duo have take soundcloud by storm, targeting chart-topping hip hop tracks and flipping them into down tempo house, or “Future Lean” as they categorize it. Their remix of Mos Def’s “Ms. Fat Booty” passed a million plays, and their recent original “Mojito” has already racked up close to 100,000 downloads. Fans of Flume, Cashmere Cat and Sweater Beats will be all over this new flip on Future’s single “I Won” – listen and grab it below for FREE!

Last week, GDD™ fav, Cashmere Cat, revealed the first single from his debut release, Wedding Bells, on LuckyMe Records in Scotland. “With Me” is an incredible sample of Future Bass and a prime example of the unbelievable music coming from LuckyMe as of late. Home to Hudson Mohawke, Baauer, S-Type, and many more artists known for pushing the increasingly thin lines between Instrumental Hip Hop and dance music, LuckyMe seems to be a perfect home to the ingenious styles of Norway’s Cashmere Cat. Stream “With Me” below and purchase it now on iTunes.

Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, the third installment of my Haute & Bothered mixtape series has arrived after a year’s hiatus. The aesthetic draws heavily from certain tracks that disavow basic genre umbrellas, and after crawling out of the deep house black hole that I found myself in the last year, it seemed right to enter the autumnal equinox with a grip of new tracks that subscribe to this mantra from the likes of Curses, Canblaster, SCNTST, as well as an original track from myself mixed into the fray.
It’s been a hot one this summer, but not only because of the weather… some of the best tracks over the past few months have been heard across the festival circuit and club sets worldwide. With so much new talent emerging, a plethora of great production is being recognized as well. For the 125th edition of The Dirt, the LA to NY connection of BONES & Threewise have (10) gems to offer you as we near the end of the heated season.

Oh boy I am very excited about the guest mix this week. One of my latest and most exciting discoveries is young French beat boy Phazz, and in this fine week of July he’s handed over an absolutely wonderful exclusive guest mix to us. Chock full of exclusives, intelligent re-works, and various unique up-and-comers, the mix explores the beat-based jambalaya of everything from jazz, R&B, and club influences and beyond. I see huge amounts of potential in Phazz, his work with vocal-pitching on remixes of Ryan Leslie and Cassie is really astounding and the direction he’s been taking as of late has a huge appeal.
You can stream and download his mix via our Soundcloud, and check out the tracklist and our interview with him after the jump. I predict big things from Phazz, really excited to see what’s next!
