GDD veterans Caligula and newly crowned regular Joe Maz have taken two of Dev’s tracks and turned them on their heads. Caligula transforms ‘Dancing in the Dark’ into one of their finest dubstep remixes yet, while Joe Maz catapults ‘Kiss My Lips’ into a maniacal big-room monster.

What’s up dirty dancers? I have spent much of this morning reminiscing about how epic Labor day weekend was and in particular the songs that made it that much more memorable. As I traveled through a haze of clubs, bars and pool parties, I was exposed to a variety of different EDM genres which all served their surrounding atmospheres very well. To get you through this week, Tropicool and myself have teamed up to bring you a variety of memorable music that will hopefully put a big smile on your face and a hop to your step.

• Lifelike – Motion
A king of ever-building disco house has released yet another gem. Fast, melodic, full of magical sounds.
• Tyson – Strangers
This mysterious man from london has leaked another track on the inter-web. Signature Tyson sound atop some funky chords and riffs. Everything he touches turns to gold while he wears a scary skull mask.
• Kamp! – Cairo (Moullinex Remix)
Kamp! has been around for a few years now, first stumbling upon them when they had below 200 song listens on their myspace with the single ‘Breaking a Ghost’s Heart’. I knew this trio from poland would be huge as their new single has just been featured as the opening track on the Magician’s Magic Tape 14.
• Flight Facilities – Feelin’
The B-side to the Foreign Language EP. Groovy old school disco with a touch of modern flair and quite the dancey thump after the drop. Similar to some of Cassian’s older material.
• Doctor Dru & Adana Twins – Juicy Fruit
The opening to this song has listeners believing that Biggie is about start flowing, however, that quickly transforms into a sun-kissed summers day where you’ve got a cold cocktail in one hand and a big breasted babe in the other. MMM tasty cakes.

What a butt, right? Anyway, I’d like to thank you all for your feedback on the recent Dirts that we’ve been putting up in past weeks. We know you guys all love your free music, but we also want to make you all aware of great new tracks that big time artists are playing out that you may not have heard of before. Therefore, we will be keeping The Dirt to tracks available for download, zipped up tight for your bulky pleasure. In addition, we will be starting up a new Artist Chart-type feature where artists will throw us 10-15 tracks that they’re fond of. Not sure what to name it yet, so if you guys have any ideas feel free to comment below. We’d love to hear your input.
This week, Troy Kurtz and I decided to do a double-team Dirt for you guys. Each of us took a completely different take on these tunes, so don’t be surprised that his 6 have absolutely no relation to my 6. TK has used his recent trip to ATL as an inspiration, and I just felt like it was necessary to go with some of the bigger House tracks that have been in heavy rotation since last Monday. Let us know what you think! Tunes after the jump. Continue Reading
Over the next few days, we’ll be posting all the vital information to the events that we’ll be throwing in Miami next week for Miami Music Week. Once again, we’ve teamed up with OVERTHROW for the official unofficial closing party of Ultra 2011. And yes, it’s at a full nude stripclub called Gold Rush. And yes, Miami badman and multiple DMC champ Craze, along with ATL trenchstep dude Heroes x Villains, along with a bunch of other DJs including GDD’s own BONES and myself will be playing everything from Juvenile to Joker. Pre-sale tix are $10 and you must be 21 to see the tata’s. Infamous photographer Bronques of lastnightsparty.com will be capturing the debauchery, so if you drink too much and forget what the stripper who gave you a lap-dance looked like, we’ll have documentation.
Oh, and there’s probably gonna be some Moombahton in there too.
Bad to the bone Boston dudes Hot Pink Delorean have blasted back with their snow-thawing EP ‘Club Crashers’ on Overthrow Music Authority. Never ones to play it safe, the trio delivers four tracks that you’ll most likely put into your peak party-time Serato crate. Go snag the EP at Beatport.
I have to say that I am very proud of our Miami brethren. Caligula have been pumping out some very high quality tunes in 2010, and I believe the best is still yet to come. The boys’ most recent project is a remix of Swedish House Mafia‘s latest big one, Miami 2 Ibiza, which has actually been approved by the rockstar trio and will be featured in the next remix package (Bravo, boys!). Grab the low quality version here and make sure to keep an eye on Beatport for the official release. Stream first on the video below if you’d like.
A couple months back, I introduced you to Miami’s newest dubstep threat, Caligula. They ended up winning the ‘M.I.A. – Steppin’ Up’ remix competition outright and were treated to a few days in the Red Bull studio in LA working on their upcoming EP due out this Fall on the OVERTHROW record label. I have two of their most recent remixes. One pays homage to Miami’s most notorious janitor Rick Ross, and the other is their submission for Klever and Kill The Noise’s ‘Tuff as Nails’ remix competition. Both are enough to keep you buzzing through this Monday.
With all the talent that rolls through Miami on a regular basis, it was only a matter of time before studio time led to finished products. On behalf of OVERTHROW, I present Miami’s newest bassheavy talent – Caligula. The two part production outfit is comprised of Damaged Goods and Grand Larceny, and they are set to release their bangarang dubstep EP in early September. On their first official remix, they give a solid thrashing to M.I.A.‘s ‘Steppin’ Up’. Her naughty vocals alone will make even the most basic remixes sound proper, but Caligula’s rude bassline should hoist them fairly high up on the HARD remix competition. Decide for yourself.
