Our GDD familiar Astronomar has given us the green light to release his newly mastered “HEY I C U PERCUL8-10″ – a clubbed up homage Cajmere’s infamous track “Percolator” that already has support from Diplo and A-Trak. Grab this FREE giveaway, and let the bubble bootys bounce!
This week’s Dirt is a compilation of many different vibes and grooves brought to you by Burn Unit and me. Although my colleague and I share many of the same tastes for music, we gather much of our new tunage from different outlets, making the combination of our curation a wholesome, healthy platter of solid tracks that we see fit only for GDD™‘s longest standing feature, The Dirt. Have at it and have a great weekend ladies and gentlemen!
SUNSET HOUSE • Cassius – The Sound of Violence (Franco Cinelli Remix)√+ [192kbps] So you’ve pulled off the task of getting a lucky someone back to your house after a long day of day-drinking and aren’t sure how to make that first move? Put this song on and let it work its magic. Grab the 320 off Beatport for some extra high quality lovin’.
DIDDY HOUSE • 11:11 – Tourist Trap (Jamie Jones ‘Miss X’ Remix)√√√+++ [192kbps] Diddy recently completed work on an album with techno guru Guy Gerber under the moniker 11:11 and the remix package for ‘Tourist Trap’ features Visionquest, Soul Clap, this gem, and more. Personally, I think it’s great for the industry that Diddy is on board with such incredibly talented underground artists. Guy is calling the collab the “future of electronic pop.”
RAVE HOUSE
There’s really nothing quite like a big room Phoenix remix to generate a little movement in the lumber yard. The GTA boys have had this out for a minute, but just recently made it available for download. Click through to SoundCloud to grab it in all its glory!
NOT SURE WHAT TO CALL IT BUT IT’S GOOD HOUSE • No Body – Start Again√+ Imagine that Bart B More and Benny Benassi had a baby, then that baby grew up and knocked up Dirty South’s baby, and then yeah, you get the point… that’s what this sounds like.
PIANO HOUSE
I will always associate any rendition of this song with Mehdi. Pretty much the most absurd tagteam set ever was going down between Boys Noize, A-Trak, Busy P, Riton, Diplo and Mehdi at an Electric Zoo afterparty when one of the guys (I think Pedro) dropped ‘How Deep Is Your Love.’ The place went apeshit, I went upstairs to get a drink, and that’s the last memory I have of DJ Mehdi behind the decks. I’ll never forget that moment… You should click through to SoundCloud and read the description A-Trak wrote for this dub he did. Truly touching. Always remember to keep on smiling. RIP Mehdi.
Hot off of some serious hype for his recent Woman Like MeEP Remixes, Chicago native Willy Joy is keeping it going with a massive fall mixtape featuring loads of new tracks and exclusives. You’ll hear everything from some Brooklyn Bass from AC Slater and Bart B More to some hometown Chicago flavor from Cajmere to the grooving insta-classic from Julio Bashmore, ‘Battle For Middle You.’ It’s an eclectic mix for the masses, but don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what WJ had to say about it…
“The seasons are changing and I put together a new mix for Fall to help you shift gears. House, Techno, Electro, Moombahton and more – this is a bass heavy mix full of new sounds, classic sounds, and a few exclusives you won’t hear anywhere else. It’s chock-full of GDD favorites, and you can also hear previews of some of my upcoming tunes for Trouble & Bass and others. I’ll be on tour for a lot of the Fall, so keep checking my tour dates and say hi if I’m in your town. And, as always, holler at me on Twitter!”

BIG ONE! This is probably the most excited I’ve been for a CONTROL booking in a while. Green Velvet is a living legend. His origins in Chicago facilitated a musical upbringing that was ubiquitous with Chicago House music. Founding the respected Cajual Records in the early 1990s, Green Velvet AKA Cajmere AKA Curtis Jones was at the forefront of the genre, with Coffee Pot AKA Percolator reaching dancefloors across the globe. This Friday, prepare to be blown away as Green Velvet brings some of the best House music you’ve ever heard to the Avalon in Hollywood.

By the beard of Zeus was it hot in Los Angeles today! Someone told me that it hit 113 degrees in downtown which is restoring my faith and concern in global warming. Good thing the Penthouse is in close proximity to the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Anyway, this trifecta of turbulent tunage will definitely not cool you down, but who can dance dirty without getting a little hot n’ bothered? Get these goodies before they evaporate into the stratosphere!
These two are probably my favorite remixes of the smash hit by Cajmere AKA Curtis Jones AKA Green Velvet, although the Major Lazer and Riva Starr versions are very admirable as well. Pick up the entire Percolator Package on iTunes or Beatport. Oh, and just a little announcement; Claude VonStroke and Dada Life will both be coming to CONTROL at the Avalon in October and November, respectively. Yeeeeeehaw.
Our fellow LA resident Paparazzi just sent this over for a GDD™ exclusive release today. Big synth + Alexis’ vocals = always a good time. Paparazzi is currently working on an original EP and a few other remixes as well as planning to reinstate the famous Check Yo Ponytail party in a couple months along with iHeartComix‘ Franki Chan and Media Contender‘s Danny Johnson. Keep your peepers peeled!
Isn’t there a saying that the best things come in 3′s? Either way, another huge CONTROL tripleheader is being held this Friday at the Avalon in Hollywood, with the return of the lovely Annie Mac, as well as performances by two artists who have both already had an absolutely smashing 2010; the unpredictable Englishman, Doorly, and the mysterious and intriguing man from Naples, Riva Starr. Expect to hear an eclectic mix of the world’s best dance music, including more than a few tunes that you probably have never heard before. Also, make sure to stop by the GDD™ House Party room, located to the right of the main stage in between the stage and the smoking alley. We’ll be having some fun in there as well.
