If you were with us last Sunday when Breakbot opened for Chromeo @ Drais Hollywood, you knew RIGHT when he jumped on the decks after hearing him open his set with this classic disco jam. The original track was made in 1980 by 13 year old Stacy Lattisaw, and Breakbot simply beefs it up with that signature Ed Banger studio quality. Get your serious groove on with this one folks.

Stacy Lattisaw – Dynamite (Breakbot Edit) √+

“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”

Foreword from Viceroy:
While the music market continues to grow into an ‘over saturation’ of electronic blogs, the majority of them seem to only know how to post those same absolute jams that their competition managed to post in previous features. That alone is not enough to make a blog stand out in my mind. I have been and always will be a huge fan of Gotta Dance Dirty. Why? They not only have the most up to date jams from the big dogs, but they support up and coming artists too. How many well-established blogs do that? I can’t name many. Supporting my summery beats since I started in February, Gotta Dance Dirty has given me the honor of hand selecting the tracks for Waves ≠ Raves Mixtape Vol. 14. Looking for some sun-kissed disco to cap off your summer fun? Look no further.

Enjoy, and stay frothy my friends.

“Fantasy” by super funk master Breakbot is one of those songs that you listen to and play over and over again and wish the track were longer than its three minute run time.  Fortunately for us, legendary remixer Arthur Baker comes to the rescue with his eight minute plus “Return to Disco New York Mix”.  The “Fantasy” EP is out now on Ed Banger Records with remixes by Arthur Baker & Jacques Renault and features the vocal stylings of Michael Jackson Ruckazoid (whose remix is also featured on the EP).   If the “Off the Wall” era Michael Jackson was your favorite MJ, then “Fantasy” is the track for you.

And see if you can spot Breakbot himself making a pervy appearance in the video for “Fantasy” (actually, you can’t miss him):

Back again with another glistening Waves for all you beach sluts and wave whores alike.  The weather outside is sun-kissed and teetering around 75, pretty good for early spring in Socal.  So grab your ghetto blaster, head down to ze beach, and play this 14-song flowing ‘Tropicool’ theme as you get baked with the sand beneath your toes. This installment actually doubles as baby making music, so if the test comes up positive, don’t say i didn’t warn you!

Listening to the new albums by French band Minitel Rose and Russian band Tesla Boy will make you piss glitter and crap disco balls. Both albums are smooth, sleazy and full of bounce from beginning to end. These two bands aren’t trying to sound like 80s New Wave bands, they ARE New Wave bands thru and thru. They’ve taken New Wave and given it the proper Electro update that the genre deserves.

Love songs, power pop, dancefloor fillers…go snatch up Atlantique by Minitel Rose & Modern Thrills by Tesla Boy NOW.

Minitel Rose – So You

Minitel Rose – Wild Birds (Kolt 13 reMix)

Tesla Boy – Synthetic Prince

You know you have the flu when wacking-off doesn’t even feel good. But, it also means a lotta good music for you! Well, actually tons of very good music. While I’ve been aching and tossing in bed, the past month has been a billowing heaven for awesome nu-disco and feel good jams. I’ll let the music speak for itself, and make sure you download ALL of it, because yes, it ALL is worth it. You can thank me later.
Breakbot Does it again, adding sweet funkified nectar to this dark drive home. LoveFoxx’s, aka lead vocals for CSS, voice is beautiful bringing this clouded masterpiece together.
Can’t get enough of Mr. Russ chimes. Its dreamy and dancey at the same time. Goes together like peas and carrots.
OK.ok, i know this was #1 on hypeM and blogged all over the place, but i couldn’t resist. Its just that damn good. Its indie-infused which i’m a huge sucker for, and we gotta give it up for our friends, LightsOverLA.
Cassian and Miami Horror, what could be sweeter? Probably only sugar cane dropping from the teet of megan fox.
Another remix from GDD favorite Bubblegum Sci-fi AKA Anthony Ross AKA The Grey Ghost AKA the sultan of sweetness!
Barretso is one of my new favorite acts, if you’re just reading this now, grab the previous post here. This song is pure glitchy happy glory. Keep your eyes peeled for both Redial and Barretso in the future, they’re taking over a light up dance floor near you.
“This is not a Malfunction!” just a very groovy track. Perfect song to toss in to those early or late night sets when the crowd starts-a-talkin’ with their hips.
Funky fresh! All of this new grum is really giving me the heebee-geebies. Here’s the video to his new single “Can’t Shake this feeling.” Its out may 3rd directed by the General assembly and produced by TownHall.

After averaging a triple double on another blog and coming off an MVP-caliber season, I was recently acquired by Gotta Dance Dirty via a mid-season trade and I couldn’t be more pleased to be a part of the GDD championship crew.

Here is my first jumper, a brand new remix by Brazil-iants The Twelves (The track, Sound of Love, is off of Husky Rescue‘s recently released album Ship of Light):

• Husky Rescue – Sound of Love (The Twelves Full Mix) REMOVED BY REQUEST

…and the BONUS game-winning shots in OT (finally the full version of Siriusmo’s remix of Breakbot and not the radio rip that’s been floating around):

Over here at GDD, our gardens are very lush and flourish with only the dankest and freshest buds for our ears to savor. Today i have decided to take a walk in that garden and pick some eclectic jams to sweeten your day. I also decided to pick out some eye candy from our very own and extremely talented web designer Falco™. Some say he is 2nd coming of jesus christ, while others say they have seen lazers shoot out of his eyes. However, do not fear my children, for tonight i have prepared something berry berry especial for you all. Now lets get down to ze Nitty-Gritty.

First, we have some Funky-fresh from none other than Breakbot. This is the new hotness and is saturated with emotion and groovy synth.

He’s from Chile, his beats are spicy yet flowing, and just recently signed with tuff em up an Australian label. This is Barretso, and remember that name, good things are coming.
Millionyoung is awesome. Dreamy, synthy, beautiful. Special thanks over to our buddies over at Binary for these cheery chillwave™ teenage pregnancy jams.
Some sweet nectar to dapple in and always rely on Mika to touch so delicately on sexuality.
Grungy Grimey Grum yet very Groovy. Thought this would go well with tron.Jeremy’s ealier post here
Fyfe Dangerfield (awesome name by the way) and monarchy have managed to throw together an 8 minute gem full of feel-good vibes and so many layered moods, i wasn’t sure if i wanted to kiss the next person i saw or go for a cross country uni-cycle ride. Listen, make love, rinse and repeat.
Last and Certainly not least is a remix of a song I’m sure you’ve all heard several times. But what makes this remix special enough to post is the vibe Midnight Conspiracy creates. Imagine if Russ chimes and Danger got it on with a splash of the midnight juggernauts…Yeah its kinda like that. another DIMENSION another DIMENSION!
I hope you have all enjoyed the walk through our eclectic and electric gardens! If you like any of the artwork or photography you see contact FALCO™ and tell him we sent you!
Be sure to spread the Facebook love and follow us on Twitter as well.
Oh, and a little teaser of our upcoming clothing line…and if you HAVE to ask; Yes, it is Rave-Resistant.
