I’m not really sure what to say about Boys Noize that you haven’t heard me say before… I mean, I did give him the unofficial GDD™ Artist of the Year Award in mine and das SNEEVS’ 2010 wrap-up. He’s a magician behind the decks, a master in the studio, the boss man of one of the premiere labels in the game, and just an overall dance music aficionado. With so much love for what he does and the music we crave, I have a feeling we will be blessed by his presence on the scene for a very long time to come.
Make sure you grab the BOYS NOIZE presents SUPER ACID compilation (released yesterday on Beatport and vinyl) for tracks by Noob, Brodinski, Harvard Bass and Djedjotronic… wait, what’s that?… all of those guys did one track together… called ‘Extreme Compote.’ Holy shit. Just buy the whole damned thing, mkay? I’ve listened to it all the way through probably forty times in the last month, so you know it’s good. Have a listen to a little medley of it below.
Party Like Us label boss, AC Slater, has just sent us over his edit of the much adored Boys Noize biggie, ‘Yeah’. This is the first edit, remix, or touch up that I have heard of the massive original, and according to Aaron, it’s been getting some great feedback while playing it out. Give it a listen, and producers keep your eyes out for a Party Like Us remix competition coming up on GDD™ in the near future.
For the third release on Boys Noize‘s new BNR Trax label, Benny Rodrigues has produced a slamming EP and tribute to Rotterdam’s 90s rave scene. Hailing from Netherlands, Benny’s already a well known part of the Dutch techno scene, getting a lot of support from European heavy-hitters like DJ Hell, Josh Wink and Dave Clarke – this new release which dropped today is something special. Rotterdam Rave sees a heady mixture of old school acid sounds and the infamous ‘Dominator’ synth, plus a return of that ‘boing boing’ sound before it became the obnoxious inspiration for a great number of dutch house tracks. My personal favorite on the EP is ‘Rotterdam’, a floor stomping techno anthem driven by 909 kicks. Stream the EP in full and if you like what you hear, head over to Beatport where you can buy it in 320. Also keep an eye out for his new track ‘LSD’ which is set to feature on Boys Noize’s forthcoming ACiD Compilation.
I seriously cannot recommend enough that you download this mix immediately. I think I’ve listened to it at least six times now in the last week. If you’re familiar with Shadow Dancer (three gold stars for you!) then this mix will be quite the surprise as I can positively say I’ve never heard this side of the brothers before, whether it be live or in their production. Filled with beautiful autumn grooves this entire mix evokes everything about their new track ‘It’s The Everything’ fresh off BNR‘s new sublabel, BNR TRAX.
This Friday in London, boy do we have one hell of a party in store. Get yourself down to East Village to catch a legendary show from Boys NoizeTrax debut signing Electric Rescue, who together with Deep House sensation Maya Jane Coles, will be rockin the Village until the we hours of Saturday morning. This is our first ever event in Europe, so we’re really stoked on it. Expect set times, and a quick five with Maya Jane Coles to be posted up over the next couple of days. In the meantime, we managed to talk with the man himself Antoine Husson also known as Electric Rescue, to chat about the show this friday, Boys Noize Records and his forthcoming release on Dubfire‘s Sci+Tec label:
What’s good Dirty Dancers?! It gives us great pleasure to announce our first ever European show, which we’re throwing in connection with Metamimetic at London’s legendary East Village on Friday 29 October! We’ve curated a lineup which includes very special friends, but also some of the freshest talent the electronic music scene has to offer. After all it’s Halloween, so the emphasis is on blooding new artists…
Yesss all you UK based Dirty Dancers, it’s landed!! On Tuesday Morning, after massive speculation on forums and blogs, South-West Four, the August bank holiday weekender thrown on Clapham Common, London, was finally able to release its lineup:
Both day and weekend passes are already onsale, you can pick them up here.
And with more guests yet to be announced, you can get artist updates via the South West Four site.
This absolutely mind-blowing lineup looks to be the icing on the cake of a British Summer. With more of a trance-house / electro divide between the two days, SW4 caters for a wide spectrum of music lovers, wiith the best lineup I’ve seen in the seven years it’s been running. Saturday features Armin Van Buuren, John Digweed, Oakenfold and Toolroom Knights, so it’s going to be a case of cherry picking acts, as the lineup is so densely packed with big names. On Sunday, the legendary Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim will be throwing down his only London live set of 2010. Words can’t truly express how incredible Fatboy Slim’s live shows are; it’s something everyone should experience – I’m so psyched on this one. The BNR Arena’s lineup is stacked with some of the biggest names in electro, while the Together Arena features another enthralling Skream v Benga dub-off. I’m speculating here, but with Ms. Dynamite on the lineup, I’d imagine Zinc is the special guest we’ll be wiling out to. Time will tell, but what’s for absolute certain is that GottaDanceDirty™ will be giving you only the best coverage of the weekend. It’s four months down the line, but passes will sell out so be sure to get on it early.
The wait is over. After weeks of tuning into previews and teasers, the Avalanche / Lemonade EP from Erol Alkan and Alex Ridha aka Boys Noize, dropped today on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound label. The followup to 2009’s Waves / Death Suite EP comes just in time for WMC in Miami next week, where the two will be performing together. Stay tuned this week for WMC news and an exclusive Ultra mix from GDD™’s very own ///BONES. But in meantime though, these should tide you over and set the soundtrack to another hectic weekend:
Shadow Dancer is coming at you live this Friday at CONTROL. Straight from the United Kingdom, the duo is signed onto Alex Ridha’s Boys Noize Records along with other electro greats such as D.I.M., Les Petits Pilous, and of course Boys Noize. I actually saw the boys from Shadow Dancer at a BNR party in Amsterdam last year and their set was fantastic. Expect nothing less this Friday when the two rip the Avalon apart. Our good friends sweetFA, Travis, sweatpants, and Thousandaire will be holding down The House Party in the room to the right of the stage just in case you would like an extra serving of bass and bangers.
Please RSVP at JONAHDANCESDIRTY@gmail.com to be on the GDD guestlist for discount tickets (10$). Rumor has it that you will receive a 5$ cocktail drink ticket at the door if you are on our list. Wicked.
Now for some tunes that I’ve had lurking around in the iTunes for a while that I recently rediscovered.
As many of you know, Alex Ridha has just released his new album ‘Power’ on Boys Noize Records a few days ago, and he has also embarked on his ‘Power World Tour’ where he will be making numerous stops around the globe including the New Year’s Eve show at the Hollywood Palladium. In a very respectful homage to what Boys Noize has given to the electronic music world, producers MMMatthias and dAi have come together to rework the new album, and they have definitely given a great nod to one of the best producers out there today. Be sure to check out these edits and head over to Amazon or iTunes to purchase the album and support the noize!
