For this week’s Artist Collab series for The Dirt, I’m very excited to be teaming up with one of the baddest DJs on the planet, Anna Lunoe. Along with her sorcery on the decks, Anna is a phenomenal producer, she has serious remix game, her apparel line rocks, she kills it all across social media & pretty much dominates at life.
Check out Anna’s picks of some of her hottest tunes of the moment and what she has to say about them. Together we bring you a 10-pack of ultra cool, hot new jams, a handful of which you can grab for FREE!
If the rapidly rising Italian producer, NT89, isn’t on your radar just yet, it will be after you soak in his latest release out on Bad Life Records, Payne EP. Deep, dark, and grungy are the first adjectives that come to mind after listening to the 3 track EP, complete with two originals and a remix from Bang Gang/Mad Decent rep, Obi Blanche. Already picking up hype from Mumbai Science, Bobmo, Paul Chambers, and more, I’m pretty sure we might even witness the big guns like Tiga and Erol playing out this Future Techno masterpiece known as Payne. Pick it up on Beatport now.
Monday saw the release of a new EP from Bobmo & Surkin‘s High Powered Boys side-project. The follow up to ‘Udon’ and ‘Work’ arrives in the form of a double A-side called ‘Girly/Crash’, dropped via their new Marble imprint with Para One.
‘Girly’ thumps on a big system, while ‘Crash’ grows with every play. You can certainly hear the influence of UK Garage on the percussion throughout. Great pair of tunes:
In March it was announced that French Electro imprint Institubes, was to be disbanded, citing financial problems after eight years of sterling service to the underground electronic music scene. In bittersweet conjunction with the sad news, came another announcement: that the new Marble label headed by Para One, Surkin and Bobmo was to continue delivering tasty French electro in Institubes’ absence. This week we caught up with Jean-Baptiste de Laubier aka Para One, for an exclusive insight into the Marble imprint and what it has in store for the EDM community.
After the shocking announcement last month that electronic French label Institubes decided to pull out of the game all together, fans worldwide were left scratching their heads wondering if and when a rebound would come. Thankfully, Para One, Surkin, and Bobmo secretly joined forces and launched a new label called ‘Marble‘. They release their first EP today under the name ‘Marble Players’. Undeniably French, they push the boundaries of dance music, as both tracks are serious forward-thinking analog driven bass tunes, and I can affirmatively say that ‘Marble Anthem’ is one of the best tracks I’ve come across this year. Purchase the EP on iTunes.
LDN – Having recently set up his new Marble label with co-founders Bobmo and Surkin, Para One is set to play an exclusive London date next Saturday at Scala in Kings Cross, where he’ll be joined by Paul Chambers and Autokratz among others. (Full Listing info after the jump)
The new French electro label was started in response to the recently disbanded Institubes imprint. A statement from Para One’s manager read: “Even though the demise of Institubes may come as a shock to the electronic music world, when Para decided to team up with the others to form Marble there was no doubt in my mind and theirs that this is going to be a huge success. It will continue to carry the French electronic sound that is already gaining worldwide attention.”
Amen to that. Here’s a 3 minute mix of Marble’s forthcoming material, including new tunes from Para One, Surkin, Das Glow, Myd, Canblaster, and Bobmo:
