“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
Foreword from Viceroy:
While the music market continues to grow into an ‘over saturation’ of electronic blogs, the majority of them seem to only know how to post those same absolute jams that their competition managed to post in previous features. That alone is not enough to make a blog stand out in my mind. I have been and always will be a huge fan of Gotta Dance Dirty. Why? They not only have the most up to date jams from the big dogs, but they support up and coming artists too. How many well-established blogs do that? I can’t name many. Supporting my summery beats since I started in February, Gotta Dance Dirty has given me the honor of hand selecting the tracks for Waves ≠ Raves Mixtape Vol. 14. Looking for some sun-kissed disco to cap off your summer fun? Look no further.
If it doesn’t feel like the weekend yet, Bit Funk’s remix of Justin Faust’s ‘Girl Talk’ will surely motivate you to leave your job and head straight to the bar. Out on Beatport today, this dreamy feel good remix is another smash addition to Brooklyn producer Bit Funk’s long list of great disco and house records, which I strongly encourage you to review.
Just where we were last year when O-GOD released their bootleg of ‘Barbra Streisand’ to hold us over – Shiny Disco Club‘s Viceroy has answered our antsy prayers for the next Duck Sauce festival jam ‘Goodie Two Shoes’ with a killer edit of the upcoming track that adds a cool jungle drum line to make it a DJ friendly bootleg as well. Expect to hear this version out until the big one finally drops! WELL IF I’M GOOD TO YOUUUUUU….
pic: TheStyleShark If there’s one nu disco producer who has been consistently dishing out quality tune after tune this year, it’s Bit Funk. This Chicago-based Canuck has been featured here a number of times, but just in case you’ve been sleeping, then do yourself a favor and catch up with his remixes of Joman and Binary’sLexiconDon (the latter of which saw plenty of blog love last week). Can’t say I didn’t warn you anymore.
pic: TheStyleShark We here at Gotta Dance Dirty™ value our strength through diversity in musical opinions and tastes. Consequently, when our front page gets dominated by Dutch house, I can’t help but roll up my sleeves and dig up some sweet disco house to share with our readers.
Music is what fuels us and feeds us. It makes rainy days better, and mondays go smoother. Today I have whipped up some smoothies that ill be cruisin’ and groovin’ to while i scrub the paint out of my furniture. Don’t expect womp, but be on the lookout for euphoric, nu-disco, indie-electro intergalactic, panty-dropping, and sweet smooth sounds from the way out. Bit Funk tastes like a little piece of glorious heaven scooped from a golden cloud. It sounds bright and smooth. Don’t put this on your walk-man for your morning jogs because you’ll start flying and get no exercise.
Probably my favorite song in this post. Can’t wait for more productions from this lad. Japayork hails from London and is 22, but now is hopping back and forth between japan and new york hence the name. Dreamy and synthy with beautiful vocals. Easy on the hips
