I stopped by a shoot in Los Angeles with my best bud Joakim, one half of Forever Kid, and threw a quick 10 questions his way. We chatted everything from street art to Eggo® Waffles, Kangaroo Court to who’s cute. They’ve also recut and rereleased the first remix they ever did, a classic by Whitney Houston, their way of looking back as they take the next big step. I love Whitney Houston.
Forever Kid are out on the town, generally messing with Hollywood. Check out who they mess with at the end. Any vandalism of that place is pretty neat in my book. Something tells me they’ll somehow receive a sternly worded letter signed by several lawyers for that one. If you happen to be several lawyers who represent a ridiculously fraudulent cult, and would like me to pass a sternly worded letter on to Forever Kid, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, thanks!
Forever Kid Fridays comes a day early today, and they’re after my own heart. In the years since the King of Pop has passed, we’ve seen plenty of hasty remixes leech their way up the blogs every August 29, his birthday. Today we have something different and special, a tasteful ode to the man and legend that was, and always will be. Forever Kid‘s signature dream-come-true styled synths reimagine these iconic riffs, bust their way through with flying kicks, and send us head first into the end, for that face-melting Van Halen solo we all know so well. They basically rocked out a 2013 pop anthem out of a 1983 pop anthem. I’m on listen #4. Rest in paradise, MJ.
Forever Kid are at it again. This week’s Forever Kid Fridays features another big remix, this time of the dance classic Can’t Get You Out of My Head, by uberbabe Kylie Minogue. Our first installment of the series saw Forever Kid’s Beegees remix quickly ascend the ranks of Hype Machine to #1, and I expect nothing less from this one. Bold, layered synthwork accents Kylie’s ethereal and eternally sexy vocals in a hugely haunting way. At first listen you’re transported to the crescendo of a mainstage set from a festival in a dreamy retro-future. And there’s a killer solo at the end. Stay tuned and #RefuseToGrowUp.
Forever Kid are up to no good. In celebration of last week’s Beegees remix quickly reaching #1 on Hype Machine, the boys flipped their helmet on to nightmode (+ a Go Pro they installed in it, of course), made a quick stop at Costco, then took off for a bit of stealthy night mission trouble. 300 rolls of toilet paper and 15 cans of shaving cream later… and hmm what’s that new sound at the end? We’ll find out next week on Forever Kid Fridays. #RefuseToGrowUp
Forever Kid is a feeling… a dream-come-true back to times when things were simple, free, and more fun. Influenced as much by the soaring solos of rock ‘n’ roll as by pounding big-room anthems, these two childhood friends from Sweden have come together to bring you Forever Kid Fridays on GDD™. We’ll have an exclusive throwback remix or original every other Friday, and it looks like some antics to be found in between. Today we have their big, crunchy remix of the Bee Gees classic, Tragedy. It’s Friday kiddos– have some fun with this one.
Following up on the Night By Night’ remix we brought you by Wax Motif, we bring you another 2012 recreation of a Chromeo classic… Slow Roast Recs phenom Codes has brought the anthemic ‘Tenderoni’ back to life with a serious big room overhaul. Although you can’t beat the original, this is by far the best remix I’ve encountered (out of the masses we’ve heard over the years) with gritty leads and a bouncey bassline that brings back memories of the best of Crookers – circa 2009. The appeal stands refreshing too, Codes remix shines light on the recent surge in big room popularity and the few that stand tall among the– well, just god awful. This “Tenderoni 2012″ is a home run, and we’re proud to offer it up to you dirty dancers. Enjoy!

LOS ANGELES: Fresh off Miami’s most massive, Roger Sanchez is at The Music Box Hollywood tomorrow. Stop by if you’re in the mood for big bass, hands-in-the-air grooves and a long night of solid house. If you’ve caught any of his recent residency at our sexy new favorite “Vegas-does-Vegas” club Marquee, you’ll love a taste of the big party at home before he sets off on his next global jaunt.
After quite a few successful releases under his belt over the past year Tim Bergling (better known under his 2 producing monikers Avicii and Tim Berg) was asked last month to record his own essential mix for Radio 1 in the UK. The mix just as you would suspect if you are familar with Avicii is a full 2 hours of Big Room house that makes you want to get up and move. I highly suggest you download it if your a fan of Avicii’s style or of Big Room house or even if you just need something to pick you up after a long Friday and carry you into the weekend. Trust me you will not regret it.
