After storming onto the scene with his hit release on Hot Creations three years ago, Danny Daze has been a man on a mission. Growing up in Miami and DJing raves before he had a drivers license, his 15 year love affair with electronic music is finally catapulting him to an elite level. Earlier this week, Danny’s Silicon EP dropped on Jimmy Edgar’s label Ultramajic, and it is nothing short of awesomely brash, forward thinking techno. His recent move to Berlin by way of Barcelona after a short stint with Ellum boss Maceo Plex has clearly rubbed off on Daze. Elongated sirens, manic percussion, and transposed vocals are prevalent throughout the EP, while still holding some dance floor sensibility. In conjunction with the release, he also did a mix for Mixmag, where he flawlessly journeys through 74 minutes of white-label rarities and forthcoming gold. Stream both the EP and mix below.

Now, I don’t usually post unless something really strikes my fancy. Even more rare still will a mix inspire me to words. And the best part? It’s GDD’s very own Troy Kurtz today, absolutely nailing it with this mix he did with Panic Bomber, the first installment in their “Berlin Breeze” mix series. I’ve been consistently more and more impressed with what TK and Panic Bomber have been putting out of Miami since their deeper-than debut Never Sleeping. Life is good when it’s summertime and you can sit back and watch your colleagues and best friends become your favorite DJs in the world.
Detroit-born producer & fashion photographer, Jimmy Edgar, has been making beats for over a decade now. Snatching all kinds of influences from his city’s eclectic music scene, without a doubt one powerful element stands out from the rest… SEX. This is a man who titled a track ‘I Want To Be Your STD‘, and an album ‘XXX‘. Creating mystery and dramatic/sexual tension are the main goals in his sound. He even became celibate (not even engaging with his own person) for a period of time to create sexual energy around him turning him into some kind of vampire. Continue Reading

Etnik‘s latest bomb is a remix of I Heart Shark‘s newest single, Summer. Etnik has eradicated the original feel good summer jam and completely morphed it into a dark, acid-infused explosion. With well-constructed synths and two major drops, this track will keep your head bumping until it’s glorious end.

Two of my favorites have come together once again to create yet another masterpiece. When these Berliners converge in the studio to collaborate, it seems as if they can’t help but make magic happen. Founders of the famed Get Physical imprint, Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y haven’t worked together on a collaborative single since they released ‘Donut’ last year, but the guys have somehow found time amidst their global touring schedules to put ‘Home’ together. In honor of this release, Booka Shade will be playing their first ever DJ show in Berlin at Weekend this Saturday, December 10th, so if you’re in the area, head over to Booka Shade’s Facebook to enter to win spots on their VIP guestlist!
