After just hitting #1 on the Hype Machine charts earlier this week, Australian 2-man outfit, Indian Summer, are back at it with a remix for the soulful club record, “Protect,” from Modular People signee and GDD™ fav, Beni. Taking Beni’s original into dark, Techno-infused territory, Indian Summer create an engaging creepiness with their remix equipped with menacing stabs, pitched down vocals, and a half-time breakdown that sets up a dynamic second half of the tune.
Listen first below, and if you’re in Australia you can pick it up today, if you’re in the US, snag it next week.
There aren’t many artists in dance music right now who are consistently putting out as much diverse, quality work as our man Beni is at the moment. His remix work over the last few months has been stellar. He jazzed things up on his remix of “Two Way Street” by Kimbra. His remix of “Friends” by Sneaky Sound System was a jackin’ house remix full of 90s flair. And his remix of “The Edge” by Yuksek took the sound to the deepest, darkest corner of the club. This is all proof of what a masterful maestro of house music Beni is.
Beni’s latest showpiece is his remix of “Trembling Hands” by The Temper Trap. He flips the original on its head, chops up the vocals and turns everything inside out, combining the elements of all his most recent house remixes and making it into something that will indeed leave any dance floor trembling.
After the release of Peter & The Magician‘s “Memory,” Pierre-Alexandre Busson is back at it under the Yuksek name. The Edge EP contains all of the great french disco flavor that we have come to expect from such a high-caliber artist. If that wasn’t enough, there are also a handful of awesome remixes from Panteros666, Aeroplane, Beni, and KIM to keep it a well-rounded release. Check out the previews after the jump.
A few months ago, GDD launched the first Slap & Tickle at Miami’s favorite underground dance venue The Electric Pickle. Every Tuesday, the lure of $2 tequila shots and deep grooves swept through the city and manifested itself into one steamy dance party. Tomorrow night, we pick up the pace with Australian headliner BENI. Affiliated with Modular and Bang Gang imprints, his unique brand of house and techno was a shoe-in for our debut headliner. We kick things off tomorrow at 10pm with residents Troy Kurtz, Pirate Stereo, and Santiago Cabellero. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Click here for more info.
Beni takes the feel good vibes of the Sam Sparro original to another level on his remix of the oh-so-fantastic “Happiness”. The re-teaming of Beni + Sam Sparro is another winning formula (first heard HERE on the Beni track “Maximus”). This time around it’s a modern twist on a classic sound. It’s 70s soul, 80s funk and 90s house all wrapped up into an uplifting instant classic whose message evokes self-affirmation + assurance of one’s self that despite some tough times, everything is alriiiiight & that life, indeed, is full of happiness…
Brodinski is an animal. Everything he touches seems to be the bounciest, dancey-ist tunes you can find — exemplified in his latest remix of Beni‘s ‘Last Night’ which premiered yesterday on RCRD LBL. ‘Last Night’ is the second track off of Beni’s amazing full length album, House of Beni, and it’s recently been given the remix treatment for an exciting EP release on Modular here in the US on May 1st, with remixes from Oliver $, Waifs & Strays, and this freebie from Brodi. Stream, download, and upcoming US tour dates below. √+Continue Reading
