It’s fitting that one of the first big moombaton releases of 2012 should sum up the scene’s all-inclusive outlook. A-Mac, one of the key producers in the sound’s development, has teamed up with Paul David, one of the finest new talents to emerge on the scene, to drop the Horizon EP, released Feb 9th on DJ Barletta & Paul David’s Burner Records. Building a sophisticated bridge between deep house and the original Dutch house roots, ‘Horizon’ finds the pair unveiling one of the warmer, more exciting and fresh take on moombahton. To hold you over til the EP drops this Thursday, here is the giveaway Etc! Etc! remix of Horizon – a solid bit of peak-hour, breakbeat-laden machine gun funk.

The young Netherlands export Sander Koetze, or Seductive, has done it again with another tribal anthem in his new EP Hard Rockin.’ The Dim Mak released ep is loaded with noisy remixes from Tom Stephan, Bassjackers, Malente and more. Huge release for this guy, with upcoming releases on Mad Decent and Southern Fried. Also got some other huge tunage for ya in that ballpark. Respect.

From Ontario, Canada, Zeds Dead are producing some colossus dubstep tunes at the moment. They caught my eye back in April when I first heard the ‘Gimme Shelter’ remix – Since then, they’ve dropped a killer remix of Massive Attack‘s ‘Paradise Circus’ and more recently, ‘Eyes On the Fire’ originally by Blue Foundation. Huge fan of all of the above. If I were starting a dub label, I’d move to Canada, because the quality of unsigned dubstep coming out of there right now is unreal. Check those guys out, and if you dig them, check out Knight Riderz & Sub Antix as well.
Dubstep original remix gets an electro refit from re-edit maestro Barletta.
Datsik released some free remixes a few weeks back via his facebook group. His MGMT & Coldplay remixes aren’t so hot, but this one is:
Bar9 have also just dropped a free banger via their Soundcloud. Lately their productions have been utter fire, and this one’s is no different:
Big ups to Rub-a-dub-dub for the heads up on this track.

Scion A/V is at it again with their latest release by Chicago house master Roy Davis, Jr. ft. Bear Who? The release comes along with some super groovy remixes from GDD™ favorites including Treasure Fingers, Mighty Mouse, and Junior Sanchez. Give these guys a listen and casually sip that Corona with lime. Happy Cinco de Mayo to all of you!

A little harder than those above. Barletta is now singing on his tracks with his girlfriend and they go by the name Easy. Pretty neat! You might remember the original track from ‘It’s All Gone Pete Tong’.

So I keep having flashbacks of the many amazing moments I had last weekend, and this song was definitely a good one. I listened to it on the way to the Coliseum Saturday night and it got me in the perfect type of mood cruising down the 405. I think you all might want to throw this on the 4th of July mix for sure.

Many of my friends involved in music have been slow to join facebook and resistant to sign up for twitter, but I use both of these services to discover new music. First, Tommie Sunshine, the godfather of the indie electro remix and Gotta Dance Dirty™ follower, has been updating his twitter every time he uploads a free remix to soundcloud. I can’t get enough of this collaboration with Toronto’s Barletta that he uploaded almost a month ago.

Earlier today, Breakdown’s Josh David invited me to join the Bass Weazal facebook group that sent out a mass message containing this fidget face-melter. Am I hearing samples of “Welcome to Jamrock” and “Pump up the Jam”?
