In what could be one of the fastest come-ups in 2012, Brooklyn’s Baauer has become globally recognized in a matter of months, with the mammoth Harlem Shake EP supported by every major mainstream DJ you could think of. Perfect time, perfect sound seems to be the #1 reason for success with this young producer — hopping aboard the rocket ship that is the Trap movement. On Saturday, November 3rd, Baauer will perform at HARD’s Day of the Dead here in Los Angeles, most likely to a massive early crowd. Unsurprisingly, the HARD folks quickly commissioned a mixtape from the young lad to promote his set, and it’s chock full of bass-heavy Trappers. Get turnt.

After hearing No Doubt‘s new single for the first time, I honestly wasn’t quite feeling it. However, Baauer has come through with a killer rendition that’ll have you cruising out to sea under the warm summer sun. With trap becoming a bit repetitive, he has taken a different approach to keep that heavy kick thumpin’, but also to create more of a feel-good vibe. Hear how Gwen Stefani and Baauer are a match made in paradise after the jump…

Feeding on the momentum of “trap” music right now,  the chart-topping and GDD favorite TJR has done us all a solid and created an incredible DJ-friendly edit of Bauuer‘s signature ‘Harlem Shake.’ If you know why this is a big deal then I don’t have to tell you any more, but I’d rather let TJ speak for himself on this gem:

“A few months back a friend of mine played Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” in the car and I was instantaneously hooked. It was the tiger or lion sample that did it actually and I could give 2 shits and a dozen fucks as to the coolness or not so coolness of “trap” (Yes I know, it’s not “new” it’s been thriving in the south since the T.I days.. I can google wiki search too). I’ve heard more since from Baauer and RL Grime and I love it so I wanted to make a quick edit to drop in standard 128 bpm electro & house sets. Bon ape tit.”

Trap House is in and there’s no denying it. Fusing Dance elements with Hip Hop sensibilities, Brooklyn’s Baauer is coming onto the scene strong with the Harlem Shake EP, released today on Mad Decent‘s sub-label, Jeffree’s. So far, ‘Harlem Shake’ has been big upped by Diplo, Brodinski, and Flosstradamus, and it was just recently included in Rustie’s Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. We’re going to be doing a Spotlight feature on this dude soon, so keep your eyes out. Until then, download both tracks off of the EP for free below! √+ Continue Reading
