Our GDD friend and familiar AMTRAC has been producing up a storm in 2013, remixing the likes of Ellie Goulding, Azari & III, and Bondax – while also releasing a ton of free originals on his soundcloud. Today, we celebrate the massive release of his remix for Wretch 32′s “Blackout” on Ministry Of Sound. The haunting vocals of Shakka are uplifted by deep disco house groove that rolls along til the bitter end… Listen to below, and go support the release!
GDD homies and Dim Mak-ians VCO have been very true-to-form studio rats as of late, churning out music left and right. Adding another pot to their busy stove, the duo have decided to launch a bi-weekly podcast more than aptly titled “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”. In true VCO style the mix contains a variety of hollowed, dark techno sprinkled throughout with just a tinge of weirdness. By compiling a rather special selection of artists together, VCO provides an excellent showcase into their style which anyone who’s a fan of the darker side of the electronic spectrum will be more than pleased with and ready for more.

It’s about time that GDD™ and DANCEiSM welcome back our fellow LA collective, DROID BEHAVIOR, for yet another night of the best Techno in the city. Each time we welcome the Droid Behavior crew to VS., The Central in Santa Monica turns into a dark, deep sanctuary for those who enjoy some great Techno, Electro, and occasionally some sweet Acid House. This week we’ll have Audio Injection and Vik Carrillo from the DB team, as well as Alex Pastor and Andrew Serrano warming it up. Until Thursday, enjoy this incredible new Azari & III remix from Techno guru, Tiga.
The buzzing quartet from Toronto known as Azari & III have been undeniably one of the breakthrough acts of 2011. With their debut album out now on limited edition vinyl and digital retailers and the global and physical release coming on January 22nd through Island Records, Azari & III have a busy several months ahead of them. In advance of the global release, the guys will be releasing another single, ‘Reckless (With Your Love),’ on January 15th from the self-titled album, which will be accompanied by an all-star remix team including new versions from Riva Starr, Julio Bashmore, and Tiga, as well as a radio edit and mix from super-producer Paul Epworth. Yes, I really just said all of those names in the same sentence. I need to get me one of these shirts! Happy Monday GDD™ people! After one serious bender of a weekend, I am back to the grind and ready to give you all some great tunes to start the week off right. Check out this 5 pack of remixes from some of the top artists in the game right now.
This weekend we were at the legendary Sonar Festival in one of our favorite European cities, Barcelona. Founded 18 years ago, Sonar was the first ever daytime contemporary music festival in a European city and despite its renowned status, it’s avoided slipping into mainstream territory by continuing to showcase fresh talent.
Taking place across three days and two nights, the first thing that struck us was Sonar’s ability to coordinate such a multitude of electronic acts, hosted at two very different settings without overstepping the vibe at each spot. The 12 til 9 daytime event is a super chilled affair taking place at Barcelona’s beautiful cultural centre, just a stones throw from the Ramblas. By contrast, the 10pm til 7am night event was a rager at Fira Gran Via, a convention centre on the outskirts west of the city. While we’d love to cover every highlight from the weekend, there were just too many great moments, so instead we’ll bring you a varied shortlist of what made us tick:
What a butt, right? Anyway, I’d like to thank you all for your feedback on the recent Dirts that we’ve been putting up in past weeks. We know you guys all love your free music, but we also want to make you all aware of great new tracks that big time artists are playing out that you may not have heard of before. Therefore, we will be keeping The Dirt to tracks available for download, zipped up tight for your bulky pleasure. In addition, we will be starting up a new Artist Chart-type feature where artists will throw us 10-15 tracks that they’re fond of. Not sure what to name it yet, so if you guys have any ideas feel free to comment below. We’d love to hear your input.
This week, Troy Kurtz and I decided to do a double-team Dirt for you guys. Each of us took a completely different take on these tunes, so don’t be surprised that his 6 have absolutely no relation to my 6. TK has used his recent trip to ATL as an inspiration, and I just felt like it was necessary to go with some of the bigger House tracks that have been in heavy rotation since last Monday. Let us know what you think! Tunes after the jump. Continue Reading
Big ups to our reader submitted GDD babe of the week!
After a short hiatus for the festive season, we’re back to bring you the first Dirt of 2011! Starting the year off strong, this week we’ve a fresh 14 in store, accumulating some of the hottest tracks in tropical tech, disco-house, electro and dubstep. Fear not Dirty Dancers, we will indeed be back with another helping next week. Whether it lands on a Wednesday or Saturday is up to the powers that be, but feel free to stick your oar in by voicing your thoughts on our facebook page and the comments section below.
Without further ado, it gives me great pleasure to dish The Dirt, number 22…
Here are some tracks that I had been hoarding whilst I was waiting for GDD™ v3.0 to launch. Both Cut Copy and Chromeo will be playing at Coachella this year, which also makes it a perfect reason to post a remix of Death From Above 1979 (whose stealthy reunion is easily the most exciting news at Coachella this year).
