After becoming the most talked about party in Los Angeles, AC Slater‘s NIGHT BASS movement set out on a 12 dates in 12 days tour with bass house heavyweights Jack Beats, Hannah Wants, Kry Wolf and the man himself. The tour was a success in every city they invaded, but something special was planned for its LA date this past Friday, October 10th. AC Slater teamed up with HARD to bring together one massive event in the warehouse district of downtown Los Angeles, where the infamous Lot 613 was set to play home to the festivities. With the help of Gary Richards and the HARD team, NIGHT BASS quickly became the hype of the weekend and sold out before the night even started.

Room 1 featured the tour lineup, along with NIGHT BASS residents BONES & Petey Clicks. They got things started quickly, as the room filled up and packed out within the first hour. The much anticipated Hannah Wants came after with a huge set, followed by the chief AC Slater bringing it heavy and Jack Beats keeping the energy so alive it was literally spilling out of the room. Capping off the night was a secret set from Kry Wolf, who let his jackin vibes speak for themselves as the night went into the early morning.

Along with the tour lineup, AC brought in friends to take care of room 2: Anna Lunoe, Treasure Fingers, Amtrac, Light Year and Jen Lasher to the rescue. Room 2 was equally slammed, a wider room layout but just as crazy as it’s heavier neighbor. Only in LA can so many incredible artists happen to be in the same town on multiple tour schedules that culminate to one massive experience. The hype was so real that other big names in dance music couldn’t stay away. The likes of Boys Noize, Nadastrom, Kaskade, GTA, Destructo, Jauz, Brazzabelle, and even Valentino Khan‘s mustache we’re all in attendance.

The NIGHT BASS movement proved that it’s hear to stay, and its home is in Los Angeles. The tour dominated its 12 show routing across the US, and looks forward to continuing its monthly series here in LA along with new tours and festival stages in the works… be on the lookout for live set recordings from the whole night and more info on upcoming events!

After being named as one of Boomrat’s Top 50 Emerging artists, Amtrac is well on his way to becoming one of this year’s most consistent producers. His take on RAC’s Cheap Sunglasses, which features the catchy vocal licks of Matthew Koma, sees him skimming the waters of a progressive landscape, tipping the hat to early Kaskade and deadmau5 productions. There are euphoric moments driven by his classy chord progression and energetic arps, but they’re laced with a bit of melancholy from waning strings and moody pads. It’s no wonder that he’s gearing up to provide support for Kygo on tour this Fall, and I don’t think it’ll be long before we see him headlining tours of his own.

Great tracks are often swept under the rug, dismissed, and forgotten. It seems that now more than ever, there are heaps of tracks that are given a second chance after being scooped up by bigger labels. We caught up with Amtrac, who is having his 2012 hit ‘Those Days’ re-released on the legendary Toolroom imprint.

Riding the success of his last EP for Armada Records, Amtrac is  back on remix duty for Australia’s Client Liason. His euphoric take on the track is complete with a cheeky amount of saxophone, uplifting strings and powerful vocals from the Melbourne outfit. Neatly placed chord stabs and a knocking bassline have this one jacking from start to finish, however it doesn’t lend itself to being overbearing. Expect the full digital release to be out soon, along with remixes from Com Truise and Knightlife. For those heading out to Las Vegas this weekend, you can catch Amtrac playing at EDC.

While Amtrac tends to find himself on remix duty for most of the year, it goes without saying that he also sneaks in a couple original tracks all his own. His forthcoming release is a two piece EP on the esteemed Armada imprint. Possibly his best work to date, he’s really falling into his own and it’s quite a pleasure to hear him hone his craft. Locked in grooves complimented with some ace sound design make this an extremely well polished package that drops on June 2nd. For those heading out to Palm Springs for Splash House, be on the look out for Amtrac’s poolside set.

To say that Amtrac has found his footing would be a drastic understatement. He’s been on a rapidly uphill climb, and rightfully so. His remix of Depeche Mode‘s Should Be Higher is nothing short of brilliant. The tight musicality in the synth work paired with the legendary vocals of David Gahan make this another belter of a tune.

What better way to coast into the weekend than a free download from longtime GDD favorite Amtrac. Last year was a bit of a breakthrough year for him as he was asked to provide tour support for Kaskade, and also found himself on some pretty awesome HARD lineups. This newest track he just dropped called Don’t Know, which also features the help of the Posso babes, is some terrific fuel to fire you up for the hotter months ahead. Warm keys, jacking drums and catchy vocal chops make this another weapon from the Amtrac arsenal. If you’re gonna be in Miami for WMC, he’ll be doing a b2b set with Jack Beats at the OWSLA Good Times party and also throwing weights at the Skrillex & Friends party at Mansion on the 28th.

As the holiday season continues to sneak up on us with colder temperatures and earlier sunsets, we’ve got a grip free downloads to keep your spirits up. In this 137th installment of The Dirt, we have an exquisite new edit from Maceo Plex, a 2013 touch up of TLC courtesy of Bixel Boys, a sexy new take on Marvin Gaye from Kygo, electro meets rock courtesy of Coyote Kisses and the very first Golden Pony original.

Some songs get too big for their own good, and it takes someone injecting some fresh blood into it for you to step back and gain a new perspective on it. GDD™ homie Amtrac has done just that with Duke Dumont and A*M*E’s 100000% smash hit single ‘Need U (100%)’, and he’s provided a new shelf life for a song that you seemingly couldn’t get away from for the first half of 2013.

Reserved with its use of the signature vocals of the original, it’s more dancefloor-oriented, and a pumping little number that would fit nicely in any deep or tech house set. Available for free download via Amtrac’s SoundCloud (and above), I couldn’t be happier to have an excuse to play a rendition of this out once again!
