One of the East coast’s prized festivals, Mysteryland USA, is shaping up for its best edition yet this year on the Woodstock ’99 grounds in New York during June 10-13. Today, they just announced their full lineup by day and stage with additions of Amtrac, Autograf (Live), Infinity Ink (Live), Machinedrum, Mikey Lion & Deep Jesus, Penguin Prison, and Roman Flugel, on top of Lee Burridge, Claude VonStroke, ODESZA, Skrillex, Emancipator and more. To make matters even more exciting, Mysteryland USA also dropped news about the return of their speaker program (Curated and hosted by NPR personality, Anya Kamenetz), the Healing Garden (Curated by Sarah Schroder and back by popular demand), and for the first time in the U.S., a comedy tent has been added with Saturday Night Live’s Kyle Mooney headlining. The Miami by-way-of Kentucky based producer Amtrac needs no introduction around these parts – he’s been a GDD favorite since the start and his next release is no substitute. His new single “Hold On’ was premiered by Radio 1 legend Pete Tong and has finally dropped today on Mark Knight’s imprint Toolroom. Deep yet soulful, with funk forward vocal that rides atop a rolling sub bassline all the way through – we wouldn’t have it any other way. Listen below, and pick it up now on beatport!

Los Angeles – Don’t miss Amtrac next Thursday, August 27th as he takes over Night Bass @ Sound Nightclub!

To get us hyped for their big show this Saturday night @ Exchange LA, I caught up with house music lords Chris Lake and Amtrac for another cheeky edition of our Quick-hitter interview series. The two have never met, but we found plenty to be sized up in their comparisons of Los Angeles and preparation for the gig. Let’s get to it!

AMTRAC….

1.) Whats your favorite track (original or remix) by Chris Lake?
Chris Lake – Chest (Original Mix)
Deadmau5 – Faxing Berlin (Chris Lake Edit)

2.) First memory of coming to LA?
I remember leaving my phone in a car when I went to a show in Hollywood. I ended up having to find my way to some party on Mulholland to retrieve it. Mulholland Drive is such a tight movie, so I didn’t mind the journey so much.

3.) You’re driving a convertible around LA, what song is playing?
CAN – Vitamin C

4.) Go-to spot to eat in LA?
The King of Grill in Hollywood / the fire walk up tacos

5.) What non-music celebrity would you go b2b with and why?
Shia LaBeouf, because I’m sure his tracks would “Do It”

6.) 1 thing you want Chris Lake to know before the show July 11 @ Exchange?
I probably won’t play any AC/DC

CHRIS LAKE….

1.) If you weren’t making music / DJing what would your job be?
I’d probably be designing tall buildings like skyscrapers and bridges, things like that. It always fascinated me as a kid.

2.) First memory of coming to LA?
I played Monday Night Social 8 years ago so that would have been my first trip here. There was a heat wave and I thought I was going to die in that temperature. It did take me a few trips to get used to it here though, but now I love it and I’ve been living here for nearly 4 years.

3.) You’re driving a convertible around LA, what song is playing?
Anything by the beach boys

4.) Go-to spot to eat in LA
M cafe on Melrose

5.) What non-music celebrity would you go b2b with and why?
Idris Elba coaches a bad ass and he can also DJ (I know I kinda cheated)

6.) First thing that comes to mind when you think of the word ‘AMTRAC’?
Journeys with a view to San Diego (on a train, obviously)

I’ve always spoken of Amtrac’s ability to release killer tracks at an alarming rate, but this is just getting ridiculous.  Coming off of a track for Acura and the official release of his “Those Days VIP” mix, we’re now getting this rewokring of “Paradigm.”  Amtrac’s “Temptation” mix is certainly that, featuring an absolutely infectious-yet-simple melody, perfect vox sampling and that upbeat house vibe we’ve come to expect from the producer.  Stream this one now, and prepare for whatever comes next from this guy.

Amtrac has proven himself to be one of the sickest and most versatile producers around.  From the heavier side of house tracks, to more progressive ones like today’s release, this guy can do it all.  His latest is called “Broadway,” and it definitely showcases a softer side of the producer.  Simple vocal samples play along with a light and airy synth arrangement, making for a really pleasant track.  This was made for — of all things — a playlist for Acura, which also includes tracks from Plastic PlatesBit Funk and more.  Download the whole collection below.

Well Amtrac continues to release tracks at an alarming rate.  His latest comes as an official remix for Swedish House by-product super duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso.  Coming just 10 days after the release of “Truly,” this “Somthing New” remix offers a super cool, spacey vibe.  A classic Amtrac bass line lays the foundation for the vocals to do what they do.  Get stoked to see what else this guys whips up in the studio in the coming months.

truly

Fresh off an appearance at the legendary BPM Festival and string of massive remixes, Amtrac is back once again with a free tune.  It’s a tall order to follow up the successes he had in his edits for Alesso and Shakka, but this original track really hits the spot.  Simplistic in its sampling, “Truly” lets a massive bassline and eerie melody speak for themselves.  This one’s suited for late night, underground occasions, so lights off and speakers up.

unholy

November has been very kind to Amtrac fans.  A handful of remixes and a collaboration track with Kastle have kept his name in the house headlines during the past month and, with another remix released today, he shows no signs of slowing.  His latest endeavor is a remix of Wolfgang Gartner’s single “Unholy,” and the bassline certainly does the title justice.  This bouncy remix quickly takes the track from the radio waves to the underground — look out for it’s official release on December 1.
