We all know the beauty Toro Y Moi has constructed on his latest studio album “Anything In Return”, so now it’s time for a funky twist. Our LA based friends Richnuss have done just that. Richnuss is the playful project between cousins Peter Nussbaum, founder of Guns in the Sun Records, & Billy Scher of psych-rock legends, American Royalty. The infectious grooves of this song don’t deviate much from the original except for adding some funk and a dance kick. With the AR infusion expect to taste a little psyche-rock drizzled in. Its a beautiful mixture and take on an already beautiful song. Keep an eye on these cats in the future.
My favorite psych-rock experimental group is at it again. American Royalty just released their highly anticipated EP entitled Prismatic, on Guns in the Sun Records, and it is quite the harmonious gem with sweeping sound waves and infectious hooks. No 2 songs alike, each spectacularly different and moving in their own way. The music depth and versatility is extremely apparent in this album, and apparent upon your first listen. I’m confident you’ll be back for much more.
Quote by American Royalty regarding the track “Hungry”: “Hungry is one of the first songs that we ever wrote in a live setting rather than a studio. We’re very excited about the way its transitioned into a recorded number, but honestly for us, its always been about that heavy bass hitting you in the chest. So turn it up.”
Some of our favorite dudes, and purveyors of rad live psychedelic electronic rock, American Royalty, have just released their new single ‘Honey & Queen’ on UK’s Dummymag.com. Soon to be released on their upcoming EP, Prismatic, which will be released in February 2013 via Guns in the Sun Records. Warm grooves, buzzing vocals, & psychedelic riffs are married seamlessly together in the iconic American Royalty sound we have all been salivating over since the beginning.
After an epic saga of a weekend @ Coachella Music Festival, the GDD™ crew return from the desert with a battered brain of new music to better prepare for the massive summer to come. This week, our very own Bones and Toks have answered the call to serving you with a dirty bundle of tunes fit for the festival-goer in all of us. Whether from artists that played Coachella, or just some of the key sounds that embody the stages, this team has it down for you and each specific playlist. Get your sweaty wristbands on them and let a’ rip.
The southern-cal homegrown indie electro band American Royalty recently released a huge remix package for their newest singles. The Matchstck Remixes EP comes loaded with 6 wildly different remixes of 3 original tracks: 2 bassline driven versions by dirtybird’s own J.Phlip, a deep techno side from Bang Gang’s Light Year, and 3 breakthrough productions from young guns Richnuss, Stryker Matthews, and Slates.
The J.Phlip and Light Year remixes are of course top notch, but my favorite is the ‘high brow deep house with a garnish of disco’ mix by Richnuss (comprised of Billy Scher of American Royalty and Peter Nussbaum of Guns In The Sun). You decide – the EP is completely for FREE DOWNLOAD from their facebook page!
An all time remix hailing from the Light Year buds over in Australia, beefing up local hometown heroes American Royalty’s new track, Blood Keys. Definitely a dark and heavy take on the original with deep grooves that will burn holes in your sisters all-stars, as well as her brain. Guns In The Sun Records is giving away the entire 6 track EP for free over at American Royalty’s Facebook page here. And if you’ve got the attention span of a retarded rabbit, we’ve embedded the Light Year Remix below for your streaming. Johnny Darko met the Groove Prince of the Underworld and it was glorious.
Our favorite bad-ass live experimental/rock/electro band, American Royalty, is about to take off on their US tour. If you happen to live in one of the cities above, do yourself a favor, and go! This show is absolutely unreal… The tour kicks off tonight in Santa Monica at our weekly VS party. RSVP here!
This week at VERSUS we welcome back electro-rock brigade American Royalty, fresh off a chain of shows nationwide including a massive performance @ the OC Pacific Festival. The last time these guys played the party it was so packed in the Central that steam was billowing out of the front entrance. Joining support will be Dance Right resident HOFF (aka Mobroder), Evanomics (formerly Robot Love), OC live duo FifiNasty, and DJ Cordova. Gonna be a hot one kids, so make sure you come early and get those $5 Redbull vodkas in your blood because we’re gonna get live and loud.
