The Whip have released their latest album, Wired Together, this month on Southern Fried Records, and I’m expecting a slew of remixes coming off of the 11-track LP in addition to the fantastic Alex Metric version of ‘Secret Weapon’ that we posted a few weeks ago as well as this out-of-the-norm rendition from Blue Satellite. After hearing Blue Satellite’s take on Edwin van Cleef’s latest single as well as a few other dreamier, funkier productions, this new remix came as a bit of a surprise to me. It incorporates some big time Electro elements illuminating that Blue Satellite can make any song and any genre his own.

Had to give a shout out to the great original here as well.

The Whip will be releasing a new single titled, ‘Secret Weapon,’ on Southern Fried Records this month, and the great people over at SFR have been kind enough to give away fellow Brit Alex Metric‘s remix away to go along with it. The indie feel from The Whip’s original rendition is juxtaposed to Alex Metric’s keen sense of bassline usage making for a great collaboration and a must have for any occasion.

We all itch for new Alex Metric material, and when that day is upon us, the sound waves enter our ears, and we tingle in delight. It is impossible to make techie electro sound this good. The riffs, builds, and cosmic sounds layered on his patented grinding yet groovy bassline is a recipe for success, and it has happened again. Coming off such a hot collaboration with Steve Angello for Open Your Eyes, it was time for another massive club hit.  The result is Raveageddon, which will be released as a bonus track on the EP single package for End of the World dropping August 15th. A hard-hitting, melodic tune perfect for the end of the world as we know it.  As if that’s not enough, a full length Alex Metric album, Open Your Eyes: Remixes and Productions, will drop shortly after on the 22nd. Keep your eyes peeled for an interview with the man, myth, and legend as well. Now turn up the volume and get after it!

Yesterday, Alex Metric became the latest artist to grace Radio 1 with an Essential Mix. With a track selection that ranges from Stuart Price’s Les Rhythmes Digitales alias, to David Bowie and the Happy Mondays, Metric’s smashed out a refreshingly versatile two hour mix for your listening pleasure:

Guided by the ruling hand of the GottaDanceDirty™ Pharaoh, we at GDD™ have certain guidelines in which we are to follow. One major rule handed down to us by the Pharaoh is to limit the generic “hey, here’s my top tunes of the week” posts***. BUT…I haven’t posted for a bit, so I’m doing what I gotta do – a “top tunes” post. Let’s hope my punishment is light.

First off, do yourself a super solid and check out Robots With Rayguns on Soundcloud (and peep Binary’s choice write up on RWR). Robots With Rayguns are giving away their entire album for free! That rules on many levels. For some new wave+electro+spacepop domination, go grab ‘Electro Isn’t Dead’ off Soundcloud RIGHT MEOW!

And secondly, some stuff I’ve been hoarding (been busy working on a new Fall Mix!):

Aeroplane – Superstar (The Krays Remix)

Friendly Fires – Strangelove (Depeche Mode Cover)

GRUM – Through The Night (The Swiss Remix)

Maximum Balloon – Groove Me (Alex Metric Remix)
